This is a democracy. We have made many strides toward equality for all in our 225 year history. This is one more stride for equality we must make. It took 80 years to get rid of slavery. It took nearly 100 years after that to guarantee equality for blacks after that. Women fought until 1920 to vote and have any type of rights. People with disabilities fought until the ADA in 1990. It took years but we did the right thing in those cases. Now it's time to do right for our gay and lesbian citizens.

1 thing wrong with trying to equate those 3 groups to gays. They are not engaging in any pervertred behaviors and they also happen to be born that way or in the case of the handicapped, through some carastrophic accident, gays chose their lot in life and it will never be proved otherwise.

OCA, gay people are born gay. There is already strong scientific evidence to that end, and the evidence will continue to grow. There is no evidence, however, that gay people are not born gay. If you want to talk about choice, then why shouldn't we be allowed to discriminate on the basis of religion? You aren't born into a certain religion, you choose to practice that religion. So should we be allowed to say I won't hire any Catholics? or Jews? or Prostetants? Of course not. This is a democracy, discrimination and democracy don't mix.

There has never been nor will there ever be a direct genetic or biological link to homosexuality. Oh there are lots of theories out there but as of today no direct irrefutable link. Its not like they haven't put enough money and effort into it either, so therefore i'm inclined to think that its a choice made due to societal influences.

In order to have a logical discussion, it takes reasonable people.

Realize that the people that you are arguing against aren't bringing reason to the table. Instead they are only bringing emotion, and past history. That's why, when you ask a logical question, you get an illogical response.

The only thing you can do is simply let them BE examples of the practices that they believe. They want to live in a bubble and always preserve status quo. You can't present new lines of thought to that.

As you've said this line of thinking is the same that argued against women's suffrage, racial equality/affirmative action, and religious freedom.

They can only spew their inane insults. Their words demonstrate their level of logical ability. They will cling to historical rules, no matter what you say or do.

They will simply make as many 1 liners as possible. They will not elaborate, because they won't be able to defend their points beyond that's the way it's always been done.

So relax.... Just let it go....

I guess you'll just have to sit back and chew on this constitutional ban which WILL happen because the majority of Americans are sickened by the perverted, disgusting practices of gays and the lawlessness being displayed in S.F. right now and their revenge will be harsh and swift.
