ACLU seeks to kill thousands of US Citizens

I didn't call the government either.

Yeah, but we already established you as not-quite-liberal. :p:

What I did was decide where to go and who to allign with for personal defense. We have a right to bear arms, so that is what I did.

I made a plan to go and be ready for full invasion. Since we didn't know the scope at the time, that was justified.

The Constitution grants us the responsibility of NOT depending on our government for protection individually against this sort of threat but by military intervention or militia or individual defense through arms.

Since I didn't expect our military to help other than create a martial law situation, I got my individual situation in order.

Depending on government allows for only 2 things:
Socialism, or police state.

I chose liberty. If anyone comes a knockin and I have any reason to believe there is intent to harm, I am well taken care of.

Newguy, the world as we know it died on 9/11.

Maybe for you, not for me. Shit like that, in general not specific, was going on all over the world. Anyone who thought 'it can't happen here' was being awfully naive. The gov't going on about how the world was changing and we have to give up liberty to be safe scares me more than the possibility of being done in by a terrorist.

That said, a properly administered flight restriction list would not necessarily be a bad thing. The current attempt is not. See the grandmothers etc on the list for an example. Also, there needs to be a way to get off the list and possibly a way to verify you shouldn't be on the list if you find out only by showing up all packed and ready for your flight. I don't know how it should work exactly since I'm not a security expert, but I'm fairly sure this ain't it.

On the evening of 9/11 I attended a candlelight vigil with my fellow students on the campus of our college. I donated money to the September 11 fund, and also sent albums with notes of condolence along with students, faculty and staff at my college to the families of those who were lost.

The no-fly lists will not prevent another 9/11. What will prevent another 9/11 is better intelligence gathering, making sure the FBI and the CIA are working together not against one another, and making sure we have an administration that takes terrorism seriously. It appears that the Clinton administration didn't start taking these threats seriously until the very end, and the Bush administration evidently didn't think terrorism was important until after 9/11.

So don't you think, as freedom loving americans, that instead of surrendering the very rights, freedoms, and liberties that were fought for, we should find ways to adapt to the times of today and better our intelligence gathering instead of allowing a government body to control more of our personal lives?

Wait aren't you a liberal?

Both the far right and the far left want massive amounts of government control, they just want it in different places. The fascist wing of the Republican Party, led by John Ashcroft supports policies like the no-fly lists, John Poindexter's Total Information Awareness and other such programs that allow the government to spy on your day to day activities. Then there are the socialists, some who are democrats, most are Naderites who want a command form economy with government severely controlling business, etc. Then there are the other 90% of us who fit on the spectrum somewhere. Me? If Ashcroft is absolute right and the Communists are absolute left, I would be center-left.

The scary thing is is that while the far left has no real power, the far right controls the current presidential administration.

The left GROWS the government for the social programs it wants the US populace to be dependent on.

Both parties want a police state ....one through military and corporate means, one through social programs.

On your scale I don't even fit on the line. I think none should have power. The power belongs to the citizens to be handed conservatively and revokably to government through the Constitution. Give me liberty or give me death.
