Do progressives really believe this nonsense??

Who the fuck you actually think you're fooling here??

Gasoline prices' jump attests to upbeat economy - Page 2 - chicagotribune.com

The arrogance of progressives is absolutely astounding..

When Bush was president and gas soared it was a sign of a bad economy but NOW high gas prices are a sign of a good economy???

Progressives belong in the loony bin..

I'm absolutely speechless over this piece (of shit)..

Technically higher gas prices does boost the economic numbers, but does not boost the human numbers.
It did the same thing under the Bush Admin. Along with higher home prices then as well.

What makes the economy looks better usually hurts the people in recent decades.

Seriously, how fucking retarded does an individual have to be to subscribe to progressivism??

What that means is that the world economy is picking up enough that they are competing with us for the fuel that our refineries are producing. So what are you suggesting, Nicky? That the government step into the free market?

Gas prices would go down in a good economy...

Nick doesn't like free markets.

That's the current driver of the current prices. Competing markets..and speculation.

They did not Under Bush's good economy.
The economics rules taught in school are no longer fully valid in a global economy.

Just what is a "good" economy anyway?
One that is growing?

I see. There is a product with a limited supply. There is a very strong demand for that product. But the price is supposed to go down? In a good economy where people have money? I take it that the name Adam Smith means nothing at all to you.

Competition is essential to a good economy... People are spending money hence competition will be very valid....

In a good economy gas prices would be forced by the spender...

No instead gas prices are going up and you morons have the fucking audacity to call their rising of gas prices a sign of a recovery??

Progressives without question are ignorant...

Rising gas prices do boost the GDP numbers, hence the economy rises.
The moroons that think the GDP rising is always a good thing were saying the same thing while Bush was president.

Gas prices go up and down, the US economy barely has anything to do with it (consumption vs oil supply) considering most of this oil comes from overseas; and is at the mercy of oil shocks.

You idiots act like there is only one oil company and supply and demand doesn't exist.

Listen communist friend - the whole idea of capitalism is to beat out the other guy - hence lowering the prices for your product, hence in a good economy gas will be cheap as it can be..

Umm it is a global commodity regardless of where it comes from. It will cost about the same if it comes from Texas or the ME.

I love how the Left has every excuse under the sun for the White House's failed policies. Obama's policies are driving up the cost of gasoline and he's giddy about it!! He's thinking his 9.99 plan will make alternative energy look cheap in comparison.

It's deliberate and the left thinks this is a good thing. Damn those Republicans, we're gonna get their gas prices so high they will have to use something else to get them to their job searches.

See how smart we are, we've got this figured out. We're gonna hit the righties where it hurts most, in their pocket book.

Too bad they're not smart enough to realize it effects everyone, not just those darn Republicans. They rarely see the whole picture, they only see what they want to.

Of course it boosts the GDP...

What is the difference between 2 gallons of gas at 2.00 or 1 at 4.00???

"The output of oil in the world is near a record high, and the demand for oil globally is near a record high," Larry said. "This is what happens when economies grow."

Best not argue with Larry.

BTW, this appears in the Chi Trib but it's authored by LA Times staff.

LOL. Obviously hasn't the faintest who Adam Smith is, let alone any idea of how an economy works.

If you have multiple sources for product A, and a large supply of product A, then suppliers of product A will compete for customers. If product A is in short supply, with not that many suppliers, then the customers will compete for product A. Doesn't matter if product A is carrots or gasoline, the rules are that same.

Not necessarily, if all the oil is being put to use aka in industry, construction, and in transport then oil prices will be high due to the limited supply. Then again oil companies can be slow to change prices.
