America
Ours is a liberal country, most here respect each other, and respect change, they respect rights, and they respect that government operates for the people and not the corporation. It grows tiring listening to the propaganda that comes from conservatives today as I cannot think of a single thing they have done for this country. I mean that. Tell me and I want proof.

Liberals founded this nation and all that follows.

Interstate Highway System
GI Bill
Labor Laws
Marshall Plan
Environmental Laws
Food safety laws
Workplace safety laws
Social Security
Economic Growth
Space Program
Peace corps
Civil rights movement
The fight against Totalitarianism
The Internet
The Tennessee Valley project
Women's right to vote
Universal Public Education
National Weather Service
Scientific Research
Product Labeling/Truth in Advertising Laws
Public Health
Morrill Land Grant Act
Rural Electrification
Public Universities
Bank Deposit Insurance
Earned Income Tax Credit
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Family and Medical Leave Act

Death Penalty
Faith based initiatives
Adding "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance

No Child left behind
Just say no
Color coded terror alert system
Adding "gender" to the Civil Rights Act (in an ill fated attempt to kill it)

How many times have you posted this crap now? Three times?

Liberals founded this nation and all that follows.

The founders were not liberals in any modern sense of the word. The word changed meaning sometime in the 1930's, for americans at least.

Interstate Highway System--a gigantic unintended subsidy to corporate retail/housing development, suburban sprawl, and the car-centric strip-mall model of building

Marshall Plan--was never more than 2~3% of Germany's economy. Ludwig Erhard's free-market reforms are responsible for the German miracle

Social Security--gigantic pyramid scheme which devours hundreds of billions which could have gone towards private retirement accounts

Economic Growth--you've got to be shitting me

Space Program--private companies can (and will) do it, but when there is a publicly subsidized alternative and restrictions on launches and rocket tech, we can't be surprised that it's taking so long

Peace corps--government aid to africa has made the problem worse, by putting farmers and textile mills out of business, and by empowering corrupt african regimes

Civil rights movement--companies are forced to a politically correct workforce, regardless of qualifications

The fight against Totalitarianism--thanks for reminding us that liberals are not necessarily anti-war by any means

The Internet--private industry went from hand-soldered computers to today's incredible machines in only 30 years, and also created the telephone communications system. Thus, it is inconceivable that they could have combined the two in the abscence of heavy government telecom regulations?

The Tennessee Valley project--Sorry, you don't have a god-given right to electricity.

Universal Public Education--people were more literate before rich industrialists funded the promotion of the Prussian school model

Scientific Research--private industry doesn't research anything, nope

Bank Deposit Insurance--enables banks to behave badly. If their gamble pays off, they outgrow the more cautious competition; if their gamble doesn't pay off, FDIC bails them out (or the Fed prints them out, if it's a big bank). Google "moral hazard".

Earned Income Tax Credit--You gave us the income tax in the first place, now you're proud of a tax credit?

Family and Medical Leave Act--ultimately, paid for by workers

Public Broadcasting--all of their good shows could easily make it on private cable channels

Americans With Disabilities Act--has increased unemployment numbers for the disabled, iirc

LOL - I think the chastity belt too but I could be wrong. So far none.

This really is one of the stupidest threads so far.

THere's just no hope for a brainwashed nazi who believes every bit of leftist propaganda ever spouted.

Republicans abolished slavery, and the Republican Party was founded in 1854 by anti-slavery expansion activists.
Deep Ocean Energy Resources Act of 2006
Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act.
Permanent Estate Tax Relief Act of 2006.
Tax Relief Extension Reconciliation Act of 2005. This bill, signed into law by President Bush in May, prevents a $31 billion tax increase on American families, small businesses, and seniors.
Health care tax break for America's self-employed (These guys and the seniors and small businesses are who the libs are sneering about when they refer to "tax breaks for the rich.")
Lawsuit reform act of 1995
Telecommunications competition and deregulation bill
Term limits
School choice
Republicans were the first major party to favor women's suffrage. When the 19th Amendment finally was added to the Constitution, 26 of 36 state legislatures that had voted to ratify it were under Republican control. The first woman elected to Congress was a Republican, Jeanette Rankin from Montana in 1917.

Look it up, genius. Lincoln is a Republican. Abolitionists were Republicans.

The slave owners were largely DEMOCRAT.

Here's some more racist liberal trivia:

The well established colleges, such as Harvard, Yale and Princeton, generally opposed abolition.

Go figure.

Not one conservative accomplishment? Surely someone can dream at least one up?

Liberalism = socialism
Socialism = involuntary servitude
Involuntary servitude = slavery
Slavery = the antithesis of liberty
Thus
Liberalism = the antithesis of liberty.

No amount of 'accomplishment' can make up for that.

Not only was the Republican Party FOUNDED as a party to oppose slavery, the ORIGINAL abolitionists in England in the early 1800s and maybe even the end of the 18th century were Quakers.

That's right. Fundamentalist Christians. OMG!

Today, the people that founded this country would be villified as right wing extremists.

I know. I keep saying that but they don't listen. Today's liberals are nothing like the liberals even 50 years ago...and if you plunked our founding fathers down amongst us today, they'd be far, far right wing conservatives. Christian conservatives, likely.

Here, let's add this to the list of "liberal accomplishments":

White Democrats established one-party rule and enforced a system of racial segregation that continued throughout the South into the 1960s.

Does that count? What is liberal? Does it mean the same thing as "Democratic" or does it mean "progressive" (as opposed to "conservative" elements)?

yea.. into the 60s where republicans developed what they like to call the "Southern Strategy" in which to lure all of the racists into the republican party where they have stayed to this very day..

Although the phrase "Southern strategy" is often attributed to Richard Nixon strategist Kevin Phillips, he did not originate it,[1] but merely popularized it.[2] In an interview included in a 1970 New York Times article, he touched on its essence:

From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don't need any more than that... but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That's where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats."[3]

Quote: "I am a liberal and I hope that America will always be in the forfront of Liberalism". George Washington

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin and others of the 'Framers' were not Christians. These great men were products of the Enlightenment and placed reason above myth belief.

Does that count? What is liberal? Does it mean the same thing as "Democratic" or does it mean "progressive" (as opposed to "conservative" elements)?

Can't have it both ways. When I stated that today's liberals are a whole different animal from the "liberal" founding fathers, the libs here wouldn't have it. We were founded by libs, by golly! When I pointed out that in today's political climate, if we plopped the founding fathers down amongst us, they'd be far right conservatives, libs sneered.

So now, faced with hard evidence of Democratic policies which erode at civil rights, you want to claim that those Dems and today's dems are different?

Funny.
