That is the logical response. It has been proven in dozens of industrialized, democratic nations. They spend less and are healthier than we are. Fewer of their citizens go without timely, adequate care. Virtually none go broke over medical bills. Their doctors are well paid and respected. They have systems that are better than ours. Pay attention. Be intellectually curious. It is so boring trying to discuss this issue with people who don't care to grasp the facts.

Profit has EVERY place in healthcare, why would someone smart enough to create medicine that cures diseases or perform brain surgery enter a field that they couldn't earn a profit? Good Lord man

Profit is in healthcare here. Yes. It shouldn't be. Saying "good lord, man" is weak. Single payer removes the profit incentive which prevents people from getting care. It's the right thing to do...and it will be done.

I don't see it going that way now, I have a feeling we will be going back to some variation of our old system.

How are they affected by it? I'm self-insured, and all I have to do is check a box on a form, and be prepared to photocopy something or other.

I never saw the ACA as anything but a scam of some sort, since insurance companies are huge donors to Democrats, and imo it has proven to be just that, and caused bureaucratic problems for the poor and working class, not the other way around, especially for those who rely on my county's public health care system. Ther are people still trying to sign up for it, but the computer systems just generate error messages and even the so-called 'help lines' can't get their apps through, and that has caused a Catch-22 for many, as they have to prove they can't afford insurance and have to have had applied for exemptions and the like. The County just had to ignore that law in order to get those people on the rolls every year since.
