Inappropriate? recalling my feelings in the days that followed 9/11 I probably would have reacted somewhat more harshly. Baseball bats have many uses, you know.

This points to what I think is an important. It's impossible to really know a person that is Al Quada in our midst. They are a well trained secretive organization.

And it's easy to stage operations in the rural areas of that third world nation to our south, Mexico. And since you can pretty much WALK in the the US with no real hassle, it's ideal for a terrorist org.

All of the incursions of civil liberties that we've suffered, and the increased security and other measures, are all no more effective than the failed Maginot line in France. Curtailing the freedoms of Americans is pointless when the fucking door is wide open across the expanse of the Mexican border.

I'm not a dem so I wouldn't know - but it would be a great marketing strategy if they took action this way.

We OWN the airspace over our nation. We can control it in anyway we see fit.

Now, there may be issues with international treaties and such, but in general we can place whatever restrictions we want on international access to our airspace.

INTRA-nation travel is significantly different, of course, but a separate topic.

The point is that we should be focused on secure borders and international travel, and spend less effort invading the privacy of American citizens.
