About 3 days ago, Abe and his LDP won a landslide victory in national elections.

Despite recent reports of vulnerability, the people supported Abe and his party in a huge majority.

Imagine that, a nationalist who wants to preserve his country’s culture, and a party that is against gay marriage recognition. Is he a “racist” like his white counterparts?

The opposition parties were divided and weakened after failing to form a united party and there was no obvious reason for Abe's LDP to lose the general election. The main concern for Japanese voters is North Korea and they are counting on the special relationship between Abe and Trump, who will visit Japan next month and play golf with Abe. If the two opposition parties had agreed on merging them without preconditions, the united party would have won close to 200 seats, reducing the LDP's majority to less than 300 seats.
