AARP: (Ryan) Budget Would Upend Vital Programs and Shift Costs to Older Americans

I'm serious. AARP's policies concerning the 2nd Amendment have nothing to do with the welfare and safety of senior citizens. They are anti-gun knee jerk democrat party policies. You can bet your ass-ets that AARP will never-ever -ever support a single republican politician. AARP is an arm of the democrat party but even if you think the AARP is independent they aren't qualified to argue with the V.P. candidate about health insurance.

ahoy Whitehall,

members 'o the AARP, and seniors in general, aren't much different from any other special interest group, matey.

fer obvious reasons, Democrats hath been seen as both the protector and the creator 'o the most cherished Government entitlements that hath been doled out to our eldest swabbys. all the GOP has to do to gain thar support be to paint the left as the entity that'll keelhaul thar benefits and *presto* ye shall gain thar undyin' support.

ye saw a bit 'o this in 2010, when seniors swung to the GOP by a 21% margin...an unheard of thing in the past. all it took was the idear that Government was goin' to kill grandma with death panels and take thar entitlement monies to give Pedro and Paco (not just hispanics, but illegal immigrant hispanics, the most dreaded variety 'o brown people!) free healthcare.

folks just be votin' in thar own best interest.

You gotta know that AARP is not politically independent. It is an arm of the democrat party. Anyway, how is an "association of retired persons" qualified to give an opinion on something as complex as the health care issue? The freaking democrats (including the former House Speaker) who voted for it didn't even know what was in the 3,000 monstrosity.

anyone over 50 can belong and plenty of oldsters are right wingers. Lord only knows why though. Senility?

Why senility when voting for Jefferson's philosophy? As a liberal you will lack the IQ to explain.

we're supposed to vote for the commonweal, not "thar own best interest", i.e., money in their pockets. Democrats are treasonously subverting our democracy by buying votes with promises of crippling welfare entitlements.

Jefferson thought Medicare should be a defined contribution program instead of defined benefit?

Jefferson founded the Republican Party in 1792 to stand for freedom from liberal government and capitalism. He would have wanted privatized health care on the assumption that government would be corrupt in inefficient at best and genocidal on average .

I'm hearing regulated health insurance exchange with competitively bid federal subsidies is the Jeffersonian vision for Medicare.

You understand this is an absurd exercise, right? Nevermind, of course you don't.

Senility may be the reason that mature lefties have a problem distinguishing the difference between corporate policy and random membership but it's more like the hatred and anger that is typical of the left. There is no doubt that democrats are members of the NRA, it's open to anyone, but we know that the NRA has an agenda. AARP's membership is open to anyone but it's policies are the democrat party policies.

ahoy Edward,

g'mornin' and well met!

i don't really see this as a problem that afflicts the Democratic party, matey...at least, not exclusively.

Government spendin' skyrocketed and grew at a terrifyin' clip in both the Reagan and W.Bush administrations. Medicare Part D, a W. Bush era creation, also bloated entitlement spendin' at an alarmin' rate.

i agree, also, that folks ought to vote fer whats best fer the country and not necessarily whats best fer themselves - but thats not the American way, me hearty. our just and fair minded citizens often rationalizes what be best fer themselves, in fact, is also whats best fer the country.

yarrRRR!

ahoy Whitehall,

imma not quite gettin' the distinction here, me bucko. both the NRA and the AARP have agendas, and both organizations be open to folks 'o all political stripes.

are ye suggestin' that the AARP doesn't have legions 'o Republican senior citizens in its ranks?

If Congress is serious about reining in Medicare costs,

it can introduce capitalism. people can then spend their own money very carefully and providers can compete with each other to survive.

A liberal will simple lack the IQ to understand why capitalism made us the richest country on earth.
