IMO everyone born before 1950 should remain under the current payouts. Those from 1951-1965 should have some reduced bottom line, once they've collected all they've put in.


If we wish to 'protect' seniors, let's put a plan in to do that. Basically most can do a better job on their own. Yes, some can't and they should be netted.
After that, all should get what they've put in, effective XXXXXX date. End SSI.

Someone born in 1950-51 has put money into that system their whole lives.

At what rate of interest do you propose we repay them for their investment?

Surely you don't expect them to be happy to hear that the 1968 dollars they put into the system will be paid back to them in 2008 dollars, do you?
