...accountable for fundamental violations of international law during 50 years of occupation.

“This is the longest-lasting military occupation in the modern world, and shows no signs of ending,” said Michael Lynk, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

“Israel’s role as occupier in the Palestinian Territory – the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza – has crossed a red line into illegality,” the Special Rapporteur said, presenting a report on Israel’s conduct to the UN General Assembly in New York.

In a series of recommendations, Mr. Lynk proposed a UN study to assess the legality of Israel’s role as occupying power, paving the way for international legal processes to be triggered and the occupation to be ended....

While a great start towards a lasting peace, I am pretty sure this will simply pass, these issues will continue to not see any real light and nothing significant will change.

Fingers crossed.

And in before the cries of how antisemitic the UN (one of the most respected human rights organizations on earth) is.

There's an occupation in Gaza by the Palestinians after it was abandoned by Israel. Is that the subject?

"A United Nations human rights expert"

Funniest thing I've read today. Thanks.
Not sure why that's funny, but if you clicked you would see that it appears quite reasonable:

The Special Rapporteur is an independent expert appointed by the United Nations Human Rights Council to follow and report on the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Special Rapporteurs are not United Nations staff members; they do not receive a salary from the United Nations, and do not work for any government or interest group, allowing them to maintain their independence.

--The Mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian Territory occupied since 1967

OHCHR | Special Rapporteur on Palestinian territories occupied since 1967

Some UN "human rights expert" is always calling for someone/some country to be held liable for what that person considers violations, it must be Tuesday....... Not surprising you would find confirmation bias in that report.
As for the position of "Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967" the selection process has been flawed from nearly the very beginning. Even former Special Rapporteurs have stated as much.

We can all respect a human rights agency which members include such beacons of human rights as the KSA, Iran, Yemen, Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Qatar..

I would welcome an assessment of the legality of the "occupation". A proper legal evaluation performed by a suitable neutral party would demonstrate there is no occupation and no occupied territories because "Palestine" has never held sovereignty over any territory and there are legal instruments in place which outline the requirement for negotiation as the means (the ONLY means) to transfer sovereignty and establish borders between two individual sovereign nations.

Exactly. There is no link to 1967 Palestinian territory.

So all those People living there have a right to israeli Citizenship?

By rights, they should all be Jordanian citizens. Jordan annexed the West Bank in 1948 and didn't officially relinquish that annexation until 1982.

※→ Hossfly, et al,

The Special Rapporteur is to assess the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (oPt).

(COMMENT)

The Special Rapporteur is suppose to be an independent expert on the subject of Human Rights (HR) and International Humanitarian Law (IHL). But it is not. Its only focus, by design, is the application f the Fourth Geneva Convention (GCIV).

The Special Rapporteur, as have all that came before him, totally ignores S/RES/1397 (2002) 12 March 2002, that "Demands" the "immediate cessation of all acts of violence, including all acts of terror, provocation, incitement and destruction." And ignores that every such acts of violence by the Hostile Arab Palestinian, including all acts of terror, provocation, incitement and destruction, were illegal. Actions that under Article VII of the Charter, the Israelis are defending against.

Recommended Reading, remembering that the Report of The Sharm el-Sheikh Fact-Finding Committee, April 30, 2000, was written before the construction began on the Security Barrier built during the Second Intifada (September 2000).

You are mistaken, as usual. Israel has not ignored the “acts of violence, including all acts of terror, provocation, incitement and destruction” that continue to be waged by the Islamic terrorists in the disputed territories. In fact, Israel has shown great restraint in response to thousands of rockets fired from Gaza and incitement to attacks on Israeli citizens as a policy furthered by the two, competing Islamic terrorist organizations controlling Gaza and the West Bank.
