Given the division in the conservative movement, the campign against the RINOs (who actually espouse the historically traditional values of the GOP) by the rather extremist elements of the conservative movement, wouldn't it make more sense for the RINOS to just jump ship and join the Democratic party?

After all, the American political parties have no definitive ideology - they have always been camilions. The Republicans originally were liberal elitists - with sunstantial business support. The Democrats were the conservatives. (back in 1860)

If the extremist of the Conservatve movement want to kick everyone, who does conform to there ideas, out of the GOP - let them. The Democratic party is an umbrella party - conservatives, moderates and everyone except wingnuts are welcome (regular nuts are welcome, just not wingnuts).

You don't have to vote for a liberal just because he/she is a democrat:

By letting the wingnuts have the GOP - and by joining the Democratic party - the GOP would become obsolete and the Democratic party would be forced to the center.

Eventually, with the GOP defunct and the Democratic party split between centrist and liberals, the Democratic party would split and we'd be back to two sane political parties again.

It would not be the first time in American history that one party became obsolete, then the only existing party eventually split.

Think about it.

I did. You lost me when you said, "Eventually, with the GOP defunct and the Democratic party split between centrist and liberals, the Democratic party would split and we'd be back to two sane political parties again.

I googled this word "camilions" and could find no definition. Could you please enlighten the wingnuts of the GOP as to its meaning??

The fact that there is an argument in the Republican Party about ideals shows there can be; An argument cannot be permitted in the Democrat party. This shows which party marches lock-step. The party in peril is the D party. The R party is re-organizing itself around its basic philosophy, conservatism.

Holy cow, I thought I was going to read a Sane alternative.

all I saw was a rant against the Gop and the people who belong to it. and then they have the nerve to tell a Republican to join the Democrat party which today should be called the Communist party of the United States.

A sane alternative???

This thread is akin to Ted Bundy being chosen the winning contestant on the Dating Game...

The silent majority don't tie themselves to a party. Many don't even vote until they feel that, 'things just ain't right', then they jump in and and make it right. The only way to judge a politician is to look at his history, because he will always tell you what you want to hear.

A post so nice, we should read it twice. :)

Diversity and Discussion are things that this new evolution of the Democrat Party only give lip-service to. Republicans are struggling to find their core values. But that's because the realize that "core values" are necessary. If you don't stand for something... you stand for nothing.

Republicans recognize that they deserved alot of the heat they've taken. They wandered from the path, and Expedience is not the same as Principles.

Great post, Horse. :clap2:

They are supposed to be a kind of lizard that changes the color of its skin to match the environment.

Old Boy scout joke...

Kid got a Chameleon as a pet. First he put it on a green shirt, it turned green, he put it on a red shirt, it turned red, he put it on a yellow shirt, it turned yellow. He put it on a plaid shirt, it died of confusion.

Either way, it is a very nasty crack.

All leftist ideologies pretty much end up the same way... with the few, who've managed to climb up over the backs of their brethren, tyrannizing the many.

Democrats were never the conservative party, they were once upon a time the classical liberal party until the term liberal was hijacked by the progressives along with the Democratic Party. That's when the classical liberals abandoned ship and moved to the Republican Party and infused it with the ideals that it claims, but fails, to live up to to this day.
