“A Republic, if you can keep it.”

The greatest Country on the planet which went from a poor British colony to a world super power in 250 years and created the greatest legal document in the world that every free nation has copied, has nothing to apologize for. It seems that (mostly) left wing hypocrites who take advantage of and enjoy the freedom of the most tolerant Country in the world never stop complaining even on the 4th of July.

Sorry, but I'm no longer buying into all that "We are the greatest" thing any longer. There WAS a time (actually the majority of this nations time) when we were. No longer. I love this country. I have fought and shed blood for this country; every member of my family has served this country, from the time they were brought here as slaves, to now. However, this illusion that we live under that we will always prevail is nothing more than propaganda that we use to delude ourselves. This country is bought and sold every day in the marketplace. China holds the majority of our debt because our "leaders" would rather put off - rather than face. our mountain of debt. Our military has been brought down to pre-WWII strength and fewer and fewer "patriots" are even considering "joining" any longer.

Nope. The PEOPLE of this country are the last asset this country has. Once their spirit is broken - and we're well on the way to finishing that off - we are done.

Don't get me wrong here. I wish to God that it wasn't the truth, but sadly, it is.

At the close of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, when queried as he left Independence Hall on the final day of deliberation—in the notes of Dr. James McHenry, one of Maryland’s delegates to the Convention.

Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?”

“A Republic, if you can keep it.”

Happy Birthday my dear US of A

from a Constitutional Republic

to a

Gargantuan bankrupt welfare/warfare police state

For shame

.
Yes, Neoliberalism is eroding our democratic form of government. For shame indeed, it is time for Americans to wake up to this failing ideology and restore the people's democracy.

American Nightmare: the Depravity of Neoliberalism
What is the connection between the US Empire’s contempt for law and truth-telling and neo-liberalism?

And how is it that citizens can be so passive in the face of evident government prevarication, endless spinning of false narratives, the evisceration of democratic morality and countless corporate and government scandals?

Most of us know that neo-liberalism as an economic form repudiates Keynesian welfare state economics and was propounded by ideologues like Milton Friedman at the University of Chicago and in an earlier day, by the dubious intellectual propagandist Friedrich von Hayek.

In popular usage, neo-liberalism conjures up a cluster of ideas adumbrated by Brown: a radically free market, maximized competition and free trade achieved through economic de-regulation, elimination of tariffs, a range of monetary and social policies favourable to business and indifferent toward poverty, social deracination, cultural decimation and long-term resource depletion and environmental destruction.

Yo butthead

we are a gargantuan bankrupt welfare/warfare police state

So what the fuck do Friedrich von Hayek.or Milton Friedman have to do with it ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

.

I could argue that the Neoliberal economics of those gentlemen have helped enable a warfare state but that wasn't really the cause of my concern as we haven't transformed into anything. We are still a constitutional republic. Who our representatives are representing is at issue however. Which is where those gentlemen come in.

How does CAPITALISM enable a warfare state?

WARFARISM IS A FASCISTIC CHARACTERISTIC

What is Fascism (political ideology) without Capitalism (economic ideology)? Even RP admits they go hand in hand.

The economic dimensions of this military agenda must be clearly understood. War and Globalization are intimately related. These military and intelligence operations are implemented alongside a process of economic and political destabilization targeting specific countries in all major regions of World.

Neoliberalism is an integral part of this foreign policy agenda. It constitutes an all encompassing mechanism of economic destabilization. Since the 1997 Asian crisis, the IMF-World Bank structural adjustment program (SAP) has evolved towards a broader framework which consists in ultimately undermining national governments’ ability to formulate and implement national economic and social policies.

In turn, the demise of national sovereignty was also facilitated by the instatement of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 1995, evolving towards the global trading agreements (TTIP and TPP) which (if adopted) would essentially transfer state policy entirely into the hands of corporations. In recent years, neoliberalism has extend its grip from the so-called developing countries to the developed countries of both Eastern and Western Europe. Bankruptcy programs have been set in motion. Island, Portugal, Greece, Ireland, etc, have been the target of sweeping austerity measures coupled with the privatization of key sectors of the national economy.

Then RP and yourself do not know your ass from a hole in the ground.

Or if you are a fascist then the conclusion is self serving

Our Founders are, no doubt, rolling in their graves. You are witness to a once great Nation in its' final days.

I remember a hippie song from the 60s (or rather some of the lyrics) - I "believe" that it was Steppenwolf that went something like this:

"we'll stick our heads into the sand; just pretend that all is grand,
and hope that everything turns ok"

Welcome to 21st Century America.
We are the richest, most powerful country in the world. We lead the world in pop culture, entertainment, technology development and foreign affairs. We hold the worlds most stable currency which serves as the worlds reserve currency.
What makes you think we are in our final days? Come back to reality

(1) How are we the "richest" country in the world? We print billions of dollars (backed by thin air) everyday.
(2) The most "powerful" country in the world? Try China. Their Army outnumbers ours by 450,000. They have twice the ballistic missiles that we do and their Navy is three aircraft carriers larger than ours.
(3) "Pop Culture" - who gives a shit
(4) Stable currency? You're joking, right? Our currency is backed by nothing.
When the uk voted to leave the EU and the market dropped where did people invest? In the dollar... Why? Because it is one of the most stable investments in the world. You obviously don't have a good understanding about how fiat currency works.

As for military... I'll let the stats do the talking

RANKED: The world's 20 strongest militaries

You're confusing (as usual) BUDGETS with "STRENGTH". China, for example pays it's soldiers a tenth of what an American Soldier makes annually. Therefore, skippy, their savings goes directly into armaments.

The US declared bankruptcy in 1935

The National Debt is 20 trillion dollars

Our meddlesome deadly foreign affairs suck - the " islamofascists" seek to retaliate against the US, TSA gestapo harass Americans at the airports

That our private industry - entertainment , technology is able to survive despite the US confiscatory taxation and suffocating regulations is truly amazing
Oh boy, where to start... Your 1935 comment, do I really need to address that? It was 1933 btw.
Moving on to modern times...
The debt is one of the biggest farce fear tactics used by the right. It's not even a "debt" in the traditional sense, and the majority of it reflects investment owned the public. There is no way we can default on it, we are an issuer of our own currency, so what is your fear? I agree we need an economic boost and I'd love to see our debt to GDP ratio drop but we aren't at the edge of the cliff. Unemployment is low, interest rates are low, investment is active... Your fear and complaints are largely in your head or a result of your lack of economic knowledge.

I own 3 businesses and have never felt strangled by taxes or regulations. Yes they are annoying but unless youRe making millions or youre in an oil/gas type industry you still have plenty of opportunity.

I wonder how many times this nation has been described as "going under"? I suspect the worst times were the Civil War and Great Depression. The "out" party has to sing that song the loudest, it is part of the politics of a democracy.

Fascism: A Bipartisan Affliction
Fascism’s distinguishing characteristic is a “mixed economy.” Unlike socialists and communists who seek to abolish private business, fascists are content to let business remain in private hands. Instead, fascists use regulations, mandates, and taxes to control business and run (and ruin) the economy. A fascist system, then, is one where private businesses serve politicians and bureaucrats instead of consumers. Does the modern American economy not fit the definition of fascism?

Regarding your definition of socialism I'd say we aren't even close to that, not even Bernie. Nobody is even whispering about abolishing private business, but rather trying to support small businesses and boost the middle class. Limiting fraud and abuse of big business by imposing regulations to promote fair competition and environmental protections don't fit your definition either.

Per your definition of fascism, i don't see anywhere a plan to control businesses to a point where it only serves politicians with the goal of ruining the economy... If you see that happening then point to specifics or please stop spreading these over bloated lies.

When the uk voted to leave the EU and the market dropped where did people invest? In the dollar... Why? Because it is one of the most stable investments in the world. You obviously don't have a good understanding about how fiat currency works.

As for military... I'll let the stats do the talking

RANKED: The world's 20 strongest militaries

The strongest curency is the SWISS FRANCS
What's your point? That has nothing to do with my statement. Plus it's not even true, Kuwait has the strongest currency

I stand corrected

1. Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD) One Kuwaiti dinar buys US$3.28

2. Bahraini Dinar (BHD) One Bahraini dinar buys US$2.65

3. Omani Rial (OMR) One Omani rial buys US$2.60

4. British Pound (GBP) One British pound buys US$1.42

5. Euro (EUR) One euro buys US$1.09

6. Swiss Franc (CHF) One Swiss franc buys US$0.99

7. Libyan Dinar (LYD) One Libyan dinar buys US$0.74

8. Bruneian Dollar (BND) One Bruneian dollar buys US$0.70

9. Singapore Dollar (SGD) One Singapore dollar buys US$0.70

10. Australian Dollar (AUD) One Australian dollar buys US$0.69
There ya go... Again, what is your point, this has nothing to do with our conversation... If you think it does then please explain how

WARFARISM IS A FASCISTIC CHARACTERISTIC

.

You provided the link to something you disagree with? WTF

So English Comprehension is not your forte:

Fascism’s distinguishing characteristic is a “mixed economy.”

Fascism is similar to AIDS - invades a country and kills it from within

.
The use of the term "mixed economy" here refers to state intervention in a capitalist market system. A system built on private ownership of the means of production.

So again I ask you, what is Fascism without Capitalism?

And to address RP's question.

A fascist system, then, is one where private businesses serve politicians and bureaucrats instead of consumers. Does the modern American economy not fit the definition of fascism?

The answer is no, he has it backwards. Our politicians serve corporations instead of the people who elect them. We don't have Fascism here, we have Corporatism. And our foreign policies reflect this arrangement.
