A Question for Pro-Choice Christians

How are you able to reconcile the legitimacy of elective abortion with the conception and birth of Jesus? Should Mary have had the right to terminate her pregnancy? How about Elizabeth, within whom John the Baptist stirred when she met Mary? Would terminating that pregnancy also have been all right with you?

I would appreciate an explanation of this seeming contradiction of viewpoints.

Bible isn't against abortion. Nor infanticide or child-murder.

God's Not Pro-Life

"Abortion:

Hosea 9:11-16 Hosea prays for God’s intervention. “Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer. Give them, 0 Lord: what wilt thou give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts. . .Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb.” Clearly Hosea desires that the people of Ephraim can no longer have children. God of course obeys by making all their unborn children miscarry. Is not terminating a pregnancy unnaturally “abortion”?

Numbers 5:11-21 The description of a bizarre, brutal and abusive ritual to be performed on a wife SUSPECTED of adultery. This is considered to be an induced abortion to rid a woman of another man’s child.

Numbers 31:17 (Moses) “Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every women that hath known man by lying with him.” In other words: women that might be pregnant, which clearly is abortion for the fetus.

Hosea 13:16 God promises to dash to pieces the infants of Samaria and the “their women with child shall be ripped up”. Once again this god kills the unborn, including their pregnant mothers.

2 Kings 15:16 God allows the pregnant women of Tappuah (aka Tiphsah) to be “ripped open”. And the Christians have the audacity to say god is pro-life. How and the hell is it that Christians can read passages where God allows pregnant women to be murdered, yet still claim abortion is wrong?"

If a fetus is already a person how come a pregnant woman cannot get a tax deduction for a child while being pregnant...why does she have to wait until birth....

They are not contradictory.

If Joseph had not accepted her, she would have been stoned to death, as would the baby.

Abortion is permitted in the bible as is birth control. Christianity is pro-choice, but to often it is the clergy that translate the bible instead of actually understanding the stories. Gays exist in the bible as well, both men and women.

Jesus was against pharisees, those that live only by the letter and not the spirit of the text. He was about love and forgiveness, not judgment, exclusion and hate.

Why do so many christian not know their own bible?

Too much Paul and not enough Jesus in their thinking. If they want to be Paulinites, then let they say that. If they want to be followers of Jesus, then let them decide that and accept the idea of loving all people, as they are.

The Pope is visiting now and he has said to forgive abortions. We all wish that children brought into the world should be loved and cared for. Sometimes fate, age, rape and health make caring for a child the wrong time. We have the right to choose. To choose and still be loved and accepted.
Jesus loved those who otherwise would be rejected by society, why can't christians follow in his foot steps? Why do so many choose to reject others?
Lets see those scriptures, show where Jesus said abortion is ok,I'll give ya a hint so you start in the right place, don't use the OT

you're late Delta....we've already made fun of the people stupid enough to fall for this cut and paste......

The thing I don't understand about this whole debate, is that America has a population imbedded within it that has all the tenants the Christians believe. If you do not like the current laws on the books about abortion or planned parenthood you can join this community and worship to your hearts content, no taxes or government intrusion. Become Amish. No abortions, no planned parenthood, no gays, no taxes. You help your neighbors. And nobody will bother you in your religious rites. No being offended by gay marriages, or baking food for those people.

Look at the religious even the ones on here cannot agree with what the doctrine says. Some take the bible literal, saying there was a flood to kill all the corruption of man, yet conveniently forget about the sons of god who bred with the daughters of man as a reason, they say the sons of god were caines children and take the flood as literal but don't take sons of god as meaning literally a son of god. It is pick and choose what to take literal and what not to based upon some religious scholar but not based on what the bible says. That is why their are so many denominations, because they all are picking and choosing, so much so that they lose all credibility when it comes to the scripture they say they support.

Some say god will punish America and 9/11 was a wake up call. As if god is still acting like he did in the Old Testament. That god was human, jealousy angry, vengful all human qualities. So it surprises me they say he is omnipotent, and that he still acted the way he did. Literal or not literal.

But hey join the Amish and you won't have any more worries about trying to save anyone's soul! Lol

Those of faith that object to abortion, gays or what ever, don't have to include those in their church. They have no right to tell others not of their faith or particular church what to do or who to love or control the body of another person.

They should stay in their own personal space and stay out the space and lives of other people.

If they object to abortions, then should not have abortions. If someone in their church confesses to having an abortion, they can choose to reject that person from their church. Outside their church, they have no say or right to interfere, none.

The law says women have the choice, as to people have the choice to love someone of the same sex. Religion has no say outside their church doors.

If it is a sin, then it is the sin of others and they choose to believe or not in sin or god...........presuming there is a god or a sin. It is not for those within a church to tell those outside the church how to behave or live or what they can and cannot do.

Maybe church goers should be careful before their religion is abolished for violating the rights of others or looses all tax exemptions and protections. Those who try to violate the rights of woman, gays or others might find themselves in jail preferably in solitary with no church services or rights of any kind. If they try to deny the rights of others, they should loose all their rights. Seems fair.

The problem is the homo's don't stay in their personal space. They bring their homosexuality to work, the park, the public and flaunt it in everyone's faces. If they kept it private there wouldn't be a problem.

As far as abortion, having the say of your personal body shouldn't include the right to kill an innocent unborn child.

if someone approaches or makes a pass, just say no thank you

the same as if some one of the opposite sex.

they are free to go to public places just like every one else. You don't have a right to prevent them or object. You can choose not to look. Personal space is arm length. You can choose to step back or ask them to step back out of your space. They have a right to work and go to restaurants and any place heterosexuals can go.

Stuff the bigotry back in your pocket. Hate is the problem, not them or their love.

You don't have right to claim it's stupid to care about other peoples business when these other people make it your business by going public with it.

either it's private and none of our business or it is. You can't have it both ways. You want it private keep it private.

Should holding hand or kissing be banned in public for heterosexuals, to keep it private? Why should gays not have the right to be seen with their partner? Gays are not going to call heterosexuals an abomination and curse them or begin a fight, so why should anti-gay religious people get in the face if homosexuals about their live and love? Keep you opinions and don't interfere with others and their rights.

How is that so hard? Live and let live.

So you admit you want public acceptance of your deviancy. That makes it my business.

We are a melting pot of diverse people. They let you practice your beliefs and you need to let them practice theirs.
In public everyone is equal. In your home or church you can be as screwed up as you like. Maybe to some you are a devient because of your prejudice, hate and intolerance of those who are different than you.

Most people are not bothered by gays or transgender, maybe your are the one that lacks the heart of mind to see good in others, no matter their sexuality or beliefs. We each have a right to liberty and pursuit of happiness. If you can't accept that that then perhaps you are in the wrong country. Here, LGBT are equal to everyone else and have the right to be treated the same as other genders, race, religion, origins and physical abilities. LGBT are not choices, they were born that way. Nature/god made them to be what they are. You have a choice to be a bigot, or the choice not to be. If it were a matter of hair or eye color or IQ or genetic disorder or genetic risk of cancer or rheumatoid arthritis, would you find a reason to hate them because they are different from you?

LGBT have been around in cultures around the world since recorded history. Your hate is not going to change the fact of their existence. As long as their preferences are not causing physical abuse to others and their love of a soul mate is with a consenting adult, you have zero say in how they live their life. Your in ability to see them as people, normal people, makes you the freak not them.

May you don't like to see gays share affection with the person they love. Maybe you don't like to see people with purple hair. Maybe you don't like to see people with tattoos or piercings. Maybe you don't like the sound of noisy motor cycles. Maybe you don't like the smell of spicy food. Tough, it's not your call if others do. They have a right to be happy. If you are allergic to something, it is your responsibility to avoid it. You do not have the right to tell everyone else in the world they have avoid it as well because of you.

Shoo troll, go hide under a bridge or in a deep cave. The rest of the world will go on with or without you. You can choose to make yourself miserable and let your hate eat away at you, or you can choose to live and let live. Isn't free choice wonderful?
