thanks guys, and yes its porn. Regarding J.R.- I agree. I do not party, drink, do drugs, smoke, gamble. My two main vices are porn and food. I do not hang out with the wrong crowd. I'm kind of a loner. I'm 42, single, no kids.

TBH I have not been to my church in forever. I do pray every day many times a day, read and post in here and on another Christian Board for fellowship, read the Word..not as much as I should though.

I will take everyone's advice and always praying. I think I'm just not "trying" hard enough to stop. I can go several days at a time but then I sin like that for one, 2, 3 days in a row...rinse and repeat. FOR YEARS. I thought this sin would get "better" after knowing God. ughhh.

You don't go to Church and you are looking for answers on an internet forum. Good luck with that one. Seems as if you are defining your own faith to satisfy YOUR needs and not God's desires.

GO TO CHURCH (Not the Catholic Cult). Meet new people, speak with the pastor. Otherwise, you are simply churning your wheels...feeding your problems to the devil and internet trolls.

Lots of people going to church every week that are going to hell. Going to church doesn't save you- Jesus saves.

I never said that. I am saying that if you read the bible, you will find that God indeed wants you to attend church. You don't have to buy into a religion or a dogma...there are plenty of non-denominational churches out there.

And no, I am not a member of that cult.

I have been a Christian since 1997, accepted Christ as my Savior back then. I have been dealing with the same sin for years and years. I blame it 100% on myself, no excuses. I feel hopeless many many times partly because of this same sin I keep committing. I pray each day for forgiveness from this sin, and all my others.


Have any of you guys (Christians please) deal with one sin over and over again, repent or at least try to and keep falling into the same sin? Honest answers please and please do not judge me. I trust God and have faith we will get through this but it has been years. I actually have been committing this sin since I was a child in the 80's.

Would like to hear your stories, advice and thoughts. Whether you have come through it to the other side or still "stuck" in it. Thank you. I guess the Holy Spirit convicting me still after all this time is a good thing? Otherwise I would be even in deeper trouble?

eta- I'm not asking for pity or justification as I know this particular sin is wrong (all sin is wrong but you know what I mean). I feel daily like there is an internal struggle to do good and not bad, but often I do the bad anyway KNOWING I'm doing bad and hurting myself and disappointing God

when I have trouble forgiving and resolving a repeat issue
it is usually because it involves collective or shared sin or karma
from beyond my immediate knowledge or control over choices

the best way I know to deal with these bigger issues
is the deliverance prayer that is done by a third party praying
in Christ Jesus to identify the underlying cause that is not being forgiven

one person could not quit smoking no matter how many times or people prayed with him through the ministry of
Dr. Francis MacNutt. finally he got a vison that the man had unforgiven issues with his father since his teen years
and could not stp the addiction until he forgave his father

another little girl wsa cured of sickness after her mother prayed for forgivness of the family past

this is called generational curses
others are called healing of memories
and some go back to original sin passed down

if you are afraid of failing and can't forgive past failures
that causes an added layer to forgive

My contribution to this.

God wants relationship with you, and I'm going to guess that you don't feel confident to approach Him, because that's what sin does. Focus on building that relationship first. Now, this is going to sound a little strange, but here it is. Jesus promised that He was faithful and just to not only forgive us, but to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, so claim it. If you approach sin from a perspective of "I can't do it, I can't do it, I can't do it", you are putting that sin front and center in your mind and setting yourself up for failure. Focus instead on relationship with Jesus. Immerse yourself in the Word. Surrounding yourself with believers is an incredibly strengthening thing to do, as they can pray for and encourage you. And finally, rest in Him. Know that you are flawed and imperfect, but that He is changing you. He will give you the tools you need to overcome this.

YES! I have struggled off and on for years with the same sin. I finally have come to the conclusion that God wants me to have this "thorn in the flesh" so that I learn to trust in Him and not rest on MY laurels. I have shunned looking at certain things and I do not read certain things. One day, this life will end and we will be reborn in the SPIRIT. In the meantime, you can be a witness to those who share your burden or are considering getting involved in a habit forming sin. And ALL sins can become habitual. Drinking, smoking, sexual, stealing, lying, cheating -------- etc., etc., etc.....Today we live in a society that simply says that I'm not hurting anyone and so I am not doing anything wrong. Well, as you do understand, you are hurting God. And I feel that as long as you are fighting, you are on the right path. Don't give up. And if you fall, get up and start again.

God can be found in a building. Where two or three disciples meet, He is in their midst. If they meet in a building, He is there.

How many of you are there?

If you are a sinner, I suggest that you strive to become a better person. Sin is disobedience to the Law. Do this, don't do that. Its easy if you bother to discern the subjects. Start at the beginning.

Do worship false gods, do not worship anything made by human hands,, do not perjure yourself in the name of God.

Whoever 'we' is may be sinners, but many people live sin free and have no trace of your sins in them, even atheists who will not bow down to and worship a non existent triune edible mangod that does not correspond to any real living being ever in existence..
