WAS THAT a personal message you sent him via pm?

I think NOT.....that was an AUTO GENERATED NEW REPUTATION NOTICE, wasn't it?

Did YOU send him via personal message this PM? NO.

Also, you called him a liar for saying you neg repped him, no? And it turns out you were lying, because you DID neg rep him.....why did you do that mt man? When you KNEW he was telling the truth about your neg rep?????

I don't get it?

care

My question is this,
If I rep somebody and include a message in that little box that pops up, is that considered a PM or not?
I think it is a PM. It is a message that I am sending to that person and that person alone. It is not a public post.
Can the moderating team please clarify this for me? It may change the way I handle rep comments.
Thank you.

I always thought the rules stated that the pms & messages associated with reps are between the two posters involved, unless one is reported, in which case the mods look at it.

I do believe ppl have been chastised (and possibly I was one of them) for posting rep messages on the open board.

But my memory is not very good.

When you rep someone and add a comment, that is a rep comment.

Such as:

You have received 325 points from Echo Zulu:
"Hey, that xotoxi sure has a nice ass, I agree!"

That is a rep comment, not a PM, and the board rules says it can be posted.

IF you reply to me after that rep comment,

"Hey, I never said xotoxi had a nice ass, I said he IS an ass"

Then THAT is considered a PM and you can't post that.

not a mod, obviously, but rep comments are exempt from this privacy rule and posted often on the open board.

EDIT: damn, my capt obvious moment was too late.

Personally, I've never posted the contents of one of those auto-generated PMs. But, depending on the ruling, I do know several whiney posts I may need to report.

Far as I know, rep messages can be posted.

PMs on the other hand cannot.

I'll be sure to never post a comment when giving rep from now on.
Oh wait, you can't give neg-rep without including a comment, but you can give pos-rep without including a comment.
What should I do about this double standard?

Not neg rep someone if you're going to worry about it?

Or rep people with this:

I am leaning towards the way echo views it....

as far as the neg comment required, won't an exclamation point do as a comment?
