A President Represents all Americans..

Do you believe Obama has lived up to that aspiration?

As a conservative, I'd say pretty well nope, in fact, mostly the opposite.

Other than sitting at the White House while Bin Laden was whacked, I'm kinda at a loss to remember anything he's accomplished correctly for conservatives....:dunno:

It's a silly false premise.

1) Generational urban poverty, in part due to government programs specifically designed to allow whites to move into suburbs while blacks could not.

What government programs allowed whites to move and made blacks stay?

Fannie Mae, the Federal Housing Authority, a variety of communities that expressly banne blacks...

The government is not the family breadwinner.

3) A family focus on safety and protection over education and advancement.
What? Please explain.

After decades of high crime rates and poverty, many families in urban areas have been conditioned to focus on keeping their children safe and protecting them over all else, which includes a lack of fostering a need for education. This isn't some crazy notion - it's been written about in social science for decades. It's the difference between a family structure designed to keep a child safe vs. a family structure designed to promote enrichment and advancement. It's a serious problem.

I have to say that I'm not really seeing the merits of your arguments. It all looks to be to be smokescreens and mirrors.

All true except for the last line; they impeached the last President that was not a Republican.

Anyone who lays all of the blame at the feet of Obama for not bringing TWO sides together--TWO being the operative word there--is not telling the whole story.

I think the American people understand that and this is why Obama is getting his 2nd term.
Nothing that shallow posted is true. Its amazing how partisan you people are.
They didn't impeach Clinton? History books disagree with you.
Bringing people together requires meeting in the middle. Not demanding you come to My side and then make accusations when they only come part way.

Yeah as was demonstrated by "You're either with us or with the terrorists."

Did you have a point other than to make yourself look silly?

Yep, "I won", republicans have to get to the "back" of the car. They can't have the keys. Those people that disagree with our policies are our enemies. How silly, I thought I heard Obama say those things.

obama has stopped suing one American company. The lawsuit against Gibson was just settled. A $300,000 fine, a $50,000 voluntary (voluntary????) donation to conservation efforts and releasing Gibson's claim on wood they already paid for.

Not a bad haul for a broke government.

The fact remains, the current president employed class warfare, the blame game, and his community organizer skills to rip the country apart. His proclamation to reach across the isle and gain a consensus was nothing more than pure bull shit, he employed the scorch earth policy of do as I say or else. For two years it was ram it down their throats politics at the expense of constitutional rights.

One can only hope that after November he returns to playing golf and leaving the country to be managed by people that understand basic accounting and what made this country great.

This post proves my theory: Obama scares the shit out of white, conservative America because he represents all Americans, not just conservative white Americans. It's why they suddenly oppose all the many things they used to favor: Fighting the wars, getting Bin Laden, slowing illegal immigration, creating a health insurance mandate....

You've convinced me. white people are scared shitless of black people.

No, that's not what I said. Some White conservatives are afraid that the president represents all Americans, not just them. That's what I said. You, of course, just made shit up. Because you're a liar.

That's why I'm going to vote white for the rest of my life

I never had any doubt about that, Willow.

Some White conservatives are afraid that the president represents all Americans, not just them

thats why they dont like him?.....you had better talk to Dean and some others here....they say its because he is black.....

I know, I get it, I'm racist because this president better not represent any white folks.........and I expect him to. I am his enemy, I disagree with his political agenda. He told me so. :eusa_eh:

when Clinton and his predecessor's were the President, the Country was divided, but you can still hear and see each other across the divide.....Bush turned that divide into a chasm...with Obama it has become the Grand Canyon.....so yea i will say he has helped make the gap bigger.....he like Bush were and are, horrible leaders...

I would ask what you would have done differently but I'm pretty sure I'd get "reach out". I would like to see what you' would have done differently and maybe we could compare notes.

As I recall, he left Bush's SECDEF in place at the Pentagon when he took over. He adopted Governor Romney's model for his healthcare plan. He extended the Bush tax cuts once already. I think he's reached out plenty. If the GOP has no interest in meeting him halfway...well...I guess that is Obama's fault...is that what I'm hearing?

Candy after 9/11 Bush had 90% of the country and world on his side....you see what he did with that.....horrible leader......Obama had a great moment when he got Bin Laden....his numbers went up pretty well.....what did he do?....instead of trying to build a few bridges he went in front of a Hispanic group and said Republicans are your enemies.....great Leadership.....reaching out is not the only sign of good Leadership.....how you address people is another.....how you communicate with the other side is pretty important.....Obama sucks at that.....Clinton had his distractors from the Farther Right....but he still was able to communicate to many Moderate and Liberal Conservatives.....who at least were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.....Obama has a hard time,in my opinion, getting many of his own party to give him that benefit.....i work in a Unionized Govt place....and there are a lot of people who backed him wishing the guy would not run again and the Dems would put up a better person....including 3 black girls who were ecstatic when he got in....now i have heard even them a few times wondering about his ability to lead.....he is a weak Leader here Domestically at least.....

So tell me which political party did MLK align with??

The famous one, MLK Jr.?

He was an extremely liberal Democrat and more.

You do not have the right to re-write history.

It should come as no surprise that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican. In that era, almost all black Americans were Republicans. Why? From its founding in 1854 as the anti-slavery party until today, the Republican Party has championed freedom and civil rights for blacks. And as one pundit so succinctly stated, the Democrat Party is as it always has been, the party of the four S’s: slavery, secession, segregation and now socialism.

It was the Democrats who fought to keep blacks in slavery and passed the discriminatory Black Codes and Jim Crow laws. The Democrats started the Ku Klux Klan to lynch and terrorize blacks. The Democrats fought to prevent the passage of every civil rights law beginning with the civil rights laws of the 1860s, and continuing with the civil rights laws of the 1950s and 1960s.

THis has been disproven so many times that I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry.

MLK Jr. was a socialist who vehemently opposed the wars, argued for a national jobs program, believed that capitalism was being used against blacks and demand a more redistributive economic system.

Does that sound like a Republican to you? Quit believing everything you read on these tubes.

I have to say that I'm not really seeing the merits of your arguments. It all looks to be to be smokescreens and mirrors.

You don't think two centuries of segregation, most of it supported by - and codified by - government policy could have an impact on the outcomes of African Americans today?

Really?

You don't think barring them from the primary method of wealth accumulation in the United States for a forty year period could impact their outcomes?

Really?

It's strange that the GOP is detesting hardball politics now that they are the ball and not the bat. I guess you can dish it out but not take it.

Is the Governor going to start campaigning soon?

Good post.

Yes and about 0.5 seconds after OBL's killing was announced, we heard that he shouldn't get credit for that from the peanut gallery here. Mudwhistle even indicated that it was a "mistake" to kill him.

As for Clinton; they never questioned his religion or his birth certificate, did they?

Not sure why you brought up where you work and how people feel about the President. Anecdotally I can tell you I have many acquaintences that feel the same way. Up until we get to the point of whom they will vote for. Not one has mentioned Governor Romney.

Obama is good, not great. He has punted on many key issues; he lied about campaign finance reform, the banks that were too big to fail still are as is GM. So I have trouble with him too.

But the next 4 years will see 3 Supreme Court Justices turn 80. We may be finally able to get Scalia off the bench. Tell your friends that if they value a woman's right to reproductive choice, to consider the Governor's views and see what they think....

It's that simple and it's that big.

King thought both parties sucked like many people do.....and he thought neither one was doing the Blacks any good......all talk and bullshit but no substance....he voted for Kennedy but would not publicly endorse him.....

I don't believe that those things have anywhere near the negative impact on today's black Americans as the government policies that provide the means for the destruction of the nuclear black family have. The government has made fathers less important by taking over the role of breadwinner. Society has fostered the victimization role for blacks and then we're surprised that people allow themselves to be limited by it. The policies of low expectations have done more damage to American black families than anything else.

There are just as many or more white and hispanic families receiving TANF as black families. The fundamental difference is that white families don't bring a two century history of segregation into the mix as well. It's really quite hard to deny that getting a 200 year head-start on wealth accumulation is extremely beneficial to whites.

i agree....i seen this......

As for Clinton; they never questioned his religion or his birth certificate, did they?

i dont believe he had this big Islam cloud floating over him either......

Not sure why you brought up where you work and how people feel about the President.

because its a Govt. Unionized place with many Democrats/Liberals working there who backed Obama......now many are not to sure of the guy.....im sure they wont be voting for Romney.....but their opinion of Obama has dropped pretty much....even my Union is kinda pissed at him.....

and if he picks judges who vote how their politics go then he aint doing us any more favors then any other pres who has done that.....i feel Supreme Court Judges should only serve 10 years.....then kick them out.....

Until black leaders stop teaching black Americans that they are victims of the white people I'm afraid they'll be stuck in victimland for centuries.
