Oh the hypocrisy!!!

A Porn-Free America? Republicans Pledge Expurgation Of ‘Public Health

Does anyone really believe that porn is a public health crisis?? Does anyone really believe that Trump believes that???
On July 16, 2016, Trump signed “The Children’s Internet Safety Presidential Pledge,” drafted by the anti-pornography organization Enough is Enough. The eight-page document, which is popular with the Republican Party’s conservative base, purports to shield children from “dangerous [online] content and activity,” but more generally calls for the establishment of “a Presidential Commission to examine the harmful public health impact of Internet pornography on youth, families and the American culture.” By signing the pledge, Trump ― who has appeared in three softcore porn videos and who opened the first casino strip club in Atlantic City in 2013 ― aligned himself with the position that pornography is a public health hazard, an assessment with which most scientists and public health specialists disagree.

What's wrong with porn ??

It beats street prostitution !!

Beats the slavery of marriage too !!

From the links provided, it sounds like Trump agrees that porn's effect on children is a problem, that federal laws protecting children from the "sexual exploitation of children" must be enforced.

Meanwhile, Trump is a grown man. Is his affinity for scantily clad, busty gals proof that he doesn't care about laws and children? I don't see that.

I'm not familiar with it but it looks like it's about protecting kids from porn, not adults. Your mud wrestling gay midget porn is safe.

First, on Trump. Agreed. He obviously is doing it for political points, just like Bill Clinton walking into Church on Sunday, while screwing every intern he could get his hands on.

So agreed.

Regardless, Porn is a massive problem. We now have men that are actually incapable of having sex with a woman. There is a direct connection between porn and masturbating, and erectile dysfunction.

It shouldn't be a shock to men, that if you are constantly staring at fake, enhanced, Photoshoped women, that when confronted with what a woman really is, that you are not going to get a buzz anymore.

But it doesn't end there. Some men are simply no longer stimulated by the physical action with a woman, because they are now so re-programmed to their own hand.

Moreover, there is also a link between this activity and low-testosterone. And an as yet unproven, but speculation between this low-t condition caused by porn, and moobs. Man boobs.

Man who jack off constantly, tend to gain weight because the low-T causes them to burn less energy and store fat. This weight gain, also causes your body fat to create estrogen. Which in turn can cause your breasts to grow.

So, while I would generally agree that Trump is being hypocritical to score political points (unless he's had a change of heart, but I doubt it), that doesn't change the fact that porn is a problem, and I'm glad he signed it. (whether he follows through, who knows).

I don't know that Trump really believes in anything besides enriching himself, and laws against the exploitation of children are enforced. However, we are not talking about child porn here.

So this is a reason for censorship?? How many men are there like that? Plus, it is not the reason why they want to ban porn. It's a morality thing.

Just more proof that the GOP really isn't conservative. Conservatives don't try to do away with basic rights like free speech, nor do they think that MORE government is the answer to every question.

Hey, here is an idea. Stay out of people's homes. That goes for all the political parties.

We are talking about children here. Maybe you didn't read what I said or what you linked.

Meanwhile, you are making a very big assumption that you know that Trump is only about enriching himself. I wonder how you obtained the ability to see into other people's hearts.

I'm all for protecting kids but that is not what this is about. If Republicans wanted to protect kids, there are many other things that they should be protecting them from and are not

This is about censorship. It's about legislating morality

That's not too specific.

Banning porn is almost impossible I think.
I've read the porn industry earns almost 100 billions USD per year... :eek-52:
That means porn is some kind of "economic power" in the world! :disbelief:

But as a women, let me ask you... do you want your guy looking at porn instead of you? When you are intimate, do you want him comparing you to those fake girls on the porn video?

So this is a reason for censorship?? How many men are there like that? Plus, it is not the reason why they want to ban porn. It's a morality thing.

It's not censorship. All early understanding of censorship, was the free exchange of ideas, liberal thought, and of speaking against the government, and even specifically states 'redress of grievances' and early writing referred to jurisprudence and enlightenment over slothful ignorance.

In all cases, the prohibition on censorship refers to these ideas, not so that you can run around naked, and call it 'freedom of speech', or so that you can ruin your family, by staring at porn, and wondering why your life sucks.

I have no problem with censorship of harmful things to society. What you can't censor, is your ability to promote those harmful things.

How many men are there like that?

Enough that is now coming out in health literature, and Men's Magazine has run several stories on it. Enough that they are funding research and surveys on the long term effects, because there are long term effects.

Ironically, I was at forum for people considering suicide just a few months ago, and I was shocked to find that more than half of all the posts I read, were men who said in their own words, they sat at home watching porn, and masturbating.

So the research matches up with my limited experience perfectly.

Plus, it is not the reason why they want to ban porn. It's a morality thing.

Entirely true. And I would argue entirely irrelevant. The whole point of morality is that there are ways to live that harm you, and ways to live that benefit you.

Lying is immoral. Have you ever met a pathological liar, that makes up stuff constantly? Do they ever really do well in life? Not usually.

Being a drunk, is immoral. Have you ever met a constantly alcoholic, that didn't end up bankrupt and in the gutter?

Are there exceptions? Maybe. Not many though. Most end up ruining their lives.

We all have to choose how we live, and even before porn was accepted, it was still out there. So even if we as a society start to censor this trash, it will still be out there, and you'll still find it if you really want to.

And you can do what you want. It's not hurting me. But morality is wanting the best for everyone. That's why we support it.

This is quite a rant. I have to vehemently disagree with your assertion that banning porn is not censorship. Where are you getting that from? You're saying that some forms of restrictions on ideas and expression is censorship and others are not? You're saying that just because the concept of censorship my have begun with a desire to quell political dissidents- that it does not apply to other areas? And while you seem to be convinced that porn is harmful to society, there are many who disagree with you. In addition, there are many other things that are harmful to society that conservatives seem to have no desire to deal with so that reason is rather hypocritical. More on that later

Enough ? Got some documentation of that.? What literature? Am I just expected to accept that at face value? An appeal to ignorance? How many such men in relation to the number of men who are impudent because they are obese couch potatoes with clogged arteries who can't see their own junk over their beer bellies? Now THAT will kill ones libido in a big hurry. I'll bet that there are many more men like that. However, you're not talking about banning double bacon cheese burgers, tallow fried potatoes, and super sized milk shakes, are you. Give me a break with this bit about being concerned about men's sex drive.

And what does that prove??That there are some men who are fucked up big time-thats what it tells us. It does not tell us that porn is a major public health crisis. I have to wonder what you were doing there.

So you're saying that people who watch porn are in the same category as drunks, and pathological liars.... not buying that at all. It's very judgmental. You have not actually made the case that porn has any major effect on the majority of - or even significant numbers of people who consume it. All that you have done is provide some anecdotal evidence that falls far short while comparing it to behaviors that are, in fact known to harm the people who engage in them and the people around them.

Everyone has the right to decide for themselves what is moral based on their own religious and cultural beliefs and sensibilities. No one has the right to decide what is moral for others, unless it involves something that is demonstrably and unequivocally harmful. I agree that engaging in behavior that harms yourself can be considered immoral because your illness does effect others, but in the case of porn, simply partaking of it on occasion is not an illness. Pornography is not the problem. The problem is there are some people who are not mature or stable enough to engage in it responsibly.

You know what I think is immoral? Smoking. It destroys lives and families. It costs world economies billions of dollars a year. Yet do you see any of these hypocritical Republicans looking to ban smoking? Half of them are in the pockets of big tobacco. You know what else I think is immoral? People making shit up and using scare tactics to control others and get them to conform to their standards. You need to get a life. A sex life.

I don't know what's missing from your brain but there's no hypocrisy between protecting children from porn and adults being free to smoke cigarettes.
