A poem: Overdrive (non-political)

Overdrive

by Captain Steel (penname)

A road warrior, on destruction's path,
challengers beside me, outrun them as I laugh,
my vehicle is primed and dialed, its needs to be driven hard,
I press the gas, the turbos spin, I tear off in my car,
jammin' gears, and gainin' speed, I'm burnin' up the road,
my hundreds of horsepower, the impetus to GO!,
the corner comes, I make my turn, and bank hard to the right,
I carve the line, straighten out, and shoot off in the night,
I'm making my midnight run, yeah this is my lovedrive,
the neon sky, lights my way, soon I shall arrive,
tracers behind me, light the electric night,
cold midnight air, I cut through like a knife,
faster, and faster, and faster yet I strive,
top speed must be reached, hit the OVERDRIVE!
