A plea to my Conservative brothers and sisters.

Can we shelve the Anti-Gay Marriage debate until after the election? I don't just mean here, I mean in real life and in the media.

Clearly not.

For social conservatives this is a bread-and-butter issue, it is the focus of their hate towards homosexuals, the arrogance of their faith, and the manifestation of their ignorance of the law.

What we are doing is falling into a trap set by the progs. ANYTHING that can keep the discussion away from obama and on us.

The right has only itself to blame.

In addition to this being a core issue for social conservatives, the ‘states’ rights/anti-Washington’ crowd perceives same-sex couples’ right to marry as a seminal part of their political dogma, where states are ‘disallowed’ to express their ‘local values’ and are at the mercy of ‘liberal, activist’ judges ‘legislating from the bench.’

That’s just too much for any rightist in the pan-conservative realm to resist.

I need to remind you dishonest peons that 70% of the black population in NC voted YES to ban gay marriage so it has nothing what so fucking ever to do with "social conservatives." too damn bad for your side.. huh

Fighting over this is silly. There are way more important things to discuss than gay marriage, no matter how you feel about it, it will be a useless issue unless we can get rid of obama. Who cares if gays can or can't get married if obama is re-elected because there won't be anything left of our republic. Who wants to live in a socialistic America where Gays cannot get married?

We need to keep the focus on obama and his failed presidency, so far he's been successful in distracting everyone with one pointless issue after another.

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until the Constitution is ratified. For the good of the Republic."

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until we get Washington re-elected. For the good of the Republic."

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until we find out if we can transition to a new President. For the good of the Republic."

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until 1808. For the good of the Republic."

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until after the war with the British. For the good of the Republic."

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until we get some new states. For the good of the Republic."

Pointless irrelevant post.

We can shelve the discussion as long as the public is frequently reminded that obama has come out.

Tell your liberal brethren to stop bringing this, abortion, rubbers, beast sex and every other fucking social issue up then...

ha ha

States Rights and Voters Rights are all we need to concentrate on,, those are the liberties guaranteed in the constitution that FedFan and his liberal buddies would do away with.

As someone pointed out on the other thread, not allowing gays to be married is a political issue because of the inheritance, income tax, etc. ramifications.

Civil rights are one of the most important issues in our country, in good times and bad.

The economy will recover and the US will be great again....but making laws to take away rights and liberties is about as un-American as it gets.

So in reality, the Republicans need to reflect on that fact.

I'm notr saying to ignore it forever, and I'm not addressing you unless you've converted to Conservatism in the last five minutes.

UnConservative brothers and sisters, I understand why you want to shelve the gay marriage debate. It is too difficult to be on the losing side of an issue, so better to put on the blinders and get back to issues that really matter. Like Mrs. Obama's vacations and Joe Biden's gaffes.

These are things you can win!

You see people? Even in this thread they want to keep us talking about ourselves and not obama.

Yes.. Progressives put a chip in anti-gay Christians to force them to bring up anti gay bills so they could take the talk off the imrpoving economy.

Ah! I was wondering iof someone was going to bring this up. No, the left didn't bring up the NC vote. It's bad enough that obama and the left keep talking about anything other than the failure that obama is, but it really sucks that we hand him the next issue gift wrapped for him to use. Hence this thread.

This is a great point! But I think some people have failed to realize the converse is also true. It has been assumed that since I am pro-gay marriage that I am a liberal.

Go figure.

Heh. I bet I just caused a little cognitive dissonance in some people.

Actually? The LEFT handed the Conservatives this gift...since the issue isn't on ANY radar screen except the Left, The media, and Obama once he evolved to the point...

I see no reason why we cant defend the institution of marriage and push forward the economy. Dont worry. We will continue to hammer Obama's record.

Do you see it happeneing? Maybe a little, but what is the big news right now? Romney vs Obama on gay marriage. What was it last week? The GOP is against women. The week before that? the GOP wants to take away your birth control.

All on us, nothing about obama's failed presidency.

Let's all go back to talking about Mrs. Obama's vacations. Now there's a subject we can sink our teeth into that has far reaching relevance!

I will also continue to hammer Obama's record...while defending gay marriage.
