A plea to my Conservative brothers and sisters.

Hmph! McCain was just as bad as Obama.

I'm dying here. I can't afford to wait for things to turn around. It is obvious that under President Obama that is not going to change. His policies have killed jobs. Unfortunately, Romney doesn't offer much more hope.

But, quite frankly, I am frigging sick and tired of people telling me everything is perfect in the land of America thanks to the maniac who currently holds the Oval Office. I have never appreciated being lied to. Things sure the hell are not perfect in the land of America despite what Obama, his media hounds or LL want us to believe.

Immie

Things are never perfect in America and they never will be. But blaming the job situation on one person is silly....the loss of jobs here have happened over decades with outsourcing and robotization of jobs....hey, maybe you can "outsource" your talents on line?

It's definitely not one person, but that one person is responsible (um, I realize he does not believe he is responsible for anything at all) for the actions of his party: the anti-business, anti-capitalist, anti-middle class, pro-socialist actions of his party.

He and the Democratic Party have done more to hurt the lower middle class in just the last three years than anything they can accuse the Republican Party of over the last 50. I understand that it sucks that corporate CEO's get hundreds of millions of dollars in salaries and stock options every year, but they only receive such outlandish salaries because they run business and employ people. The Democratic war on capitalism doesn't hurt them, it hurts the lower middle class. The very people he claims to be benefitting.

When are you guys going to understand that?

Immie
Probably when you understand that Rick Scott has done more damage to the Florida economy than Obama.

Yeah, like we really needed high speed trains going from Tampa to Orlando to Miami. Billions and billions of dollars pre-over runs, millions of hours lost in commute times from the time they begin blocking traffic for construction to the time they complete the project in 2029. All that to move 75 people a day into Disney. A mear one hour drive from Tampa and what two and a half from Miami?

Yeah, that really hurt Florida.

I would have used the train, and not to go to Disney. For both business and pleasure. And yes, turning down those federal dollars cost Florida jobs and business. As has cutting the budgets of State universities and funding to private enterprise....everyone therefore tightening their belts and hurting by not buying from guess who? Small business.

As someone pointed out on the other thread, not allowing gays to be married is a political issue because of the inheritance, income tax, etc. ramifications.

Civil rights are one of the most important issues in our country, in good times and bad.

The economy will recover and the US will be great again....but making laws to take away rights and liberties is about as un-American as it gets.

So in reality, the Republicans need to reflect on that fact.

This is nothing that a civil union wont solve.... this as much of a non issue as it gets.

If it was soooooo important why did Obama wait till now? :eusa_hand:

I call BULLSHIT.

Quite simply..Obama has been pretty proactive in helping the civil rights of Gay Americans.

Republicans are the ones that pressed the issue.

btw, it's more like 4 hours from Miami to Orlando.

You must be one of the grey haired old ladies that drive down the left lane of the highway at 45 MPH! :D

Just kidding. That was why I put the "?" there. I wasn't sure of the distance. Just taking a guess. Everytime I've driven to Miami it was via Aligator Alley and definitely not through Orlando.

But as I think about it, yeah, it has to be closer to four hours.

Republicans pressed the issue? How so? Did they make Obama come out and say what he said? Are they just supposed to let him get away with making statements such as that and not commenting on it?

Obama pressed the issue. He knew it would distract from the economy and he used it well. Expect much more of that over the next five months.

I wonder how far this will go by then. Perhaps the Democrats will have us talking about something really useful like how many squares of TP we should be allowed to use with each wipe come November 1st.

And before you go there, the fact is that I'm for civil unions and could really care less about this issue at all. Gay marriage is no skin off my nose.

Won't happen.

Nope...the social conservatives have the RNC by the balls, so to speak. What Goldwater warned about has happened. *chuckle

It appears they have their hearts & minds also; bad for the nation, as one poster wrote:

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until the Constitution is ratified. For the good of the Republic."

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until we get Washington re-elected. For the good of the Republic."

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until we find out if we can transition to a new President. For the good of the Republic."

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until 1808. For the good of the Republic."

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until after the war with the British. For the good of the Republic."

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until we get some new states. For the good of the Republic."

I hate the turnpike because it's always under construction so I normally go 27 to I4....I LOVE driving on 27. :)

Wow, I didn't know you had such bad feelings about the "shelving of Harry Reid". Good, you're finally seeing it.

As a born and bred Californian, I hate the turnpike because they want me to stop every so often and dig around for quarters. When I was growing up, CA had very few (and I believe they still do) toll roads. I can't stand toll roads. Not to mention that it is a frigging hassle. I never carry cash let alone change anymore.

I don't mind paying for the use of the road, I just despise having to carry cash.

The SunPass thing is okay with me and the Crosstown here in Tampa (a toll road) recently went to cash free commuting where they send you a bill in the mail each month that you use it based upon photos of your license plate.

Apparently Mitt Romney and his campaign team agree with me. They stated that they will concentrate on jobs and the economy and there are no plans to address gay marriage.

Smart move imo.
