Can we shelve the Anti-Gay Marriage debate until after the election? I don't just mean here, I mean in real life and in the media.

What we are doing is falling into a trap set by the progs. ANYTHING that can keep the discussion away from obama and on us.

Fighting over this is silly. There are way more important things to discuss than gay marriage, no matter how you feel about it, it will be a useless issue unless we can get rid of obama. Who cares if gays can or can't get married if obama is re-elected because there won't be anything left of our republic. Who wants to live in a socialistic America where Gays cannot get married?

We need to keep the focus on obama and his failed presidency, so far he's been successful in distracting everyone with one pointless issue after another.

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until the Constitution is ratified. For the good of the Republic."

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until we get Washington re-elected. For the good of the Republic."

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until we find out if we can transition to a new President. For the good of the Republic."

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until 1808. For the good of the Republic."

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until after the war with the British. For the good of the Republic."

"Let's shelve this slavery thing until we get some new states. For the good of the Republic."

It's the Economy stupid!! Smoke and mirrors to get the attention off the very thing that should be addressed. Who gives a crap who marries who if no one is working???

As someone pointed out on the other thread, not allowing gays to be married is a political issue because of the inheritance, income tax, etc. ramifications.

Civil rights are one of the most important issues in our country, in good times and bad.

The economy will recover and the US will be great again....but making laws to take away rights and liberties is about as un-American as it gets.

So in reality, the Republicans need to reflect on that fact.

UnConservative brothers and sisters, I understand why you want to shelve the gay marriage debate. It is too difficult to be on the losing side of an issue, so better to put on the blinders and get back to issues that really matter. Like Mrs. Obama's vacations and Joe Biden's gaffes.

These are things you can win!

This is nothing that a civil union wont solve.... this as much of a non issue as it gets.

If it was soooooo important why did Obama wait till now? :eusa_hand:

I call BULLSHIT.

Because he was asked now?

And you can call "bullshit" all you want. Good luck with that.

Keep telling yourself that... he licked his finger and waved it in the air.

Pathetic if ya ask me.

been my experience that the GOP isn't strong on reflection of reality...

but then again, neither are the Dems...

I tend to agree with you. His move was Romney-esque in the way it looks. I do think he was there already however; getting rid of DADT and other pro-gay equality measures he has taken. You can't call it a 100% political play. It looks terrible though. This is the type of thing that will lose the election for him--not the substance but the style.

I agree, it looks pathetic.

Yes.. Progressives put a chip in anti-gay Christians to force them to bring up anti gay bills so they could take the talk off the imrpoving economy.

Yep...

This is something that does not affect us in our daily lives such as gas prices, national defense, and the economy.

I know too many gays who could care less about this issue... they care that their wallets (chains and all) are emptier now...

I thnk I got the speeling right though

Then support civil unions with all the benefits of marriage. I have yet to see anyone offer that legislation. In fact, didn't NC JUST yesterday outlaw civil unions? And didn't Floriduh do the same, JUST last year?

Well lets see Obama put his money where his mouth is... where is the legislation?

I dont think this issue is important enough to put a bill forth on it right now. We have MUCH MUCH BIGGER fish to fry right now.
Just my opinion though.
