Yup, that election was the Dems, all they had to do was find a warm body that wouldn't screw it up. And as usual the choose a loser. Kerry was one of the worst possible people they could run. Bush lied to the nation when he said that "Iraq was attempting to get uranium from Africa" (may not be verbatum quote). This lie was told in Bush's effort to jin up the war and occupation of a foreign country. We know it was a lie because the only proof given was a document which was shown to be a forgery almost immediately after it was given to the UN.
