Looking for naval fighters on the web I found this article with pictures of Republic P-47 Thunderbolts embarked on aircraft carriers. There was a naval version of this plane? The report and photos, never seen by me before, can be viewed at the link below:

The USS Barnes escort carrier was used to transport P-47s and P-38s to the Pacific theater of operations and as a training carrier.
 
Those are 37 P-47 Thunderbolts of the 73rd Fighter Squadron 318th Fighter Group being transported by the USS Manila Bay CV-61 in June of 1944.

Like the USS Barnes, the USS Manila Bay was an escort carrier.
