A Michael Steele Breakfast

Blindly following a political party into the toilet is just plain stupid. How much more plainly can I state this. Take bits n pieces out of all of them and maybe we can find some way out of this political cesspool. When anyone "VOTES THE PARTY LINE" you give a few the right to vote hundreds of times for THEIR agendas. No thought required, just another 'voter robot' following mostly someone elses agendas mumbling to themselves, "Duhhh, Okay, just tell me what to do and I'll do it"

Screw the party lines, do your research and vote using YOUR MIND, not THEIRS for god sakes!

Most of us are damn smart enough to make these choices, let's begin thinking for ourselves everyone. Thank You, that is all.................:eusa_shhh: Don't tell everyone or 'they' may shut the internet down.

And that's the point. We're all individuals from various stations in life with our own experiences and principles instilled from birth from various sources.

But it is still yours...as is the truth as you have experienced it.

Time some (especially in the political class) started being honest intead of compromising themselves and this Nation toward it's detriment and demise from the originalist intent.

I think the Republican Party is being abandoned by the boatload the last year and a half.

I also think the Democratic Party is deader than a hammer, and will not rise again in my lifetime.

Independents will rule this country for the next decade or two, with the Republicans slowly regrouping, and the remnants of the Democratic Party bolstering the ranks of the Socialist Party.

It will be a different political landscape we see for many years to come.

That's because they had forgotten their Namesake as the Party of Lincoln, and everything Lincoln stood for.
They Compromised themselves and principle to look more like Democrats for the populist sake to garner votes. It bit them collectively in the ass and rightly so.

Both parties are in shambles for sure but there are some interesting dynamics to watch.

The Tea Partiers know there is insufficient time to organize and develop a new political party in time to be effective in the next election or probably in time even for 2012. So they are doing their damndest to infuse the GOP with candidates who see things as the Tea Partiers see them. If they are successful, we may see those candidates win in a record landslide in November.

The liberals continue to spread propaganda that rightwing extremists have ruined the GOP and disaffected its members. I'm not buying that because those rightwing extremists are too few to have much clout when it comes to policy or to influence outcomes. They are just fringe groups like some of the more looney leftwing extremists groups attached to the Democratic Party. If such groups can diminish the GOP, the Democrats have enough to make them extinct. But in both cases, such groups are colorful and noisy, but don't have much clout.

What has done in the GOP has not been rightwing extremists but rather an excess of liberal lite types that took over party leadership and have been calling the shots. They pretend to be consevatives, but they continue to spend too much, meddle too much, push big government initiatives, and go along to get along on stuff most of us no longer find acceptable.

If the Tea Partiers are able to elect enough conservatives to take control of the party, and those conservatives choose competent leadership, I think the GOP will become the dominant party. And could conceivably stop the runaway train that threatens to sink us.

*checks calendar*

It's not 2012 yet.

Name me five potential candidates who have better qualifications than McCain

It should be easy

There are plenty of people that are qualified to run for President. It's more a question of who is willing to run. Why all the feigned interest in the GOP? Pretending you might actually consider voting for a Republican?

As usual from the right....no names they are willing to stand behind

There must be somebody

I have voted for many Republicans.....Reagan, Daddy Bush
Too many to name at the state and local level

Not a chance that Independents will even make a dent in the political landscape

I think you're missing the point. Who the Republicans nominate doesn't really matter at this point.

They're going to win, possibly because of their merits, but certainly because THEY AREN'T THE INCUMBENT.

The right (not necessarily the Republican Party) could run a bag of rocks, and it is going to win.

When you can't discuss issues, call people names. Got it.

Its just that most people if they are Libertarian, will declare they are Libertarian. Those who are Green Party will proudly say they are Green Party

Those who won't say what they are......lunatic fringe

rightwinger, as I have stated more than once here (and yes, I know there are a lot of threads, and a lot of posts), I am a conservative. Conservatives have no party.

Thanks for clearing things up

You obviously favor the Democrats ....correct?

Whatever. I have some people in mind, but I'm waiting to see if they are going to run. I know it doesn't matter who they are, because all you're going to say is that none of them are "remotely electable" without stating why. Since I have no interest in playing your silly game, I'll keep it to myself for now. If you ever get to the point where you are genuinely interested in discussing it, let me know.

Well, if they do, we better hope and pray that those rocks are Tea Party conservatives and not more liberal lite. If the GOP regains power and blows it as badly as they did the last six or so years they held power, the GOP, conservatism, and the country as we know it are done. The Democrats will hold the power for the next generation which should be sufficient to complete the job of dismantling everything we most value and transforming us back into a European style nation.

There is no legal way the Dems can hold power beyond 2012. Whether or not the GOP rights itself is inconsequential, as the right is poised to seize control, and there will be no serious "progressive" challenge for a decade or two, as the left has betrayed the confidence of the People too grievously over the previous 6 years.

I don't know, and don't care about the GOP anymore. If they right the ship, good for them. If they don't, the Tea Party will move to the forefront of the political right, and the conservatives will still regain power.

Keep in mind, the resurgence of the right isn't so much anything the right has done effectively, as much as it is the left's complete clusterfuck of control and rampant corruption. So what the GOP does isn't going to stop the train of "vote the fuckers out." Either they get on board, or they get run over too.

I would agree Mini if we didn't have Barack Obama as President. The American electorate are such suckers that a smart politician can play them like a fiddle once they've been betrayed. It was because the GOP betrayed them that they gravitaged to Barack Obama who was articulate and persuasive enough to be believable even though he lied like a rug to get the nomination and win the election.

If the GOP gets back in and blows it, all it will take is somebody like him to take power. And then the Democrats can legalize all those 'undocumented workers', make citizen voters out of them, and gerrymander whatever it takes to keep themselves in power for perpetuity. We are dangerously close to that situation right now. They need only a few more years to pull it off completely.

Post a name and we can discuss their record, platform and chances of winning

Why is the rightwing so reluctant to state who you support? Are you ashamed of them?

Ashamed? I have nothing to be ashamed of, I just choose to not waste my time with a pointless exercise.

If I posted a name, you'd just declare that they weren't "remotely electable", to use your own words. Why on earth would I even entertain the notion that you have any interest whatsoever in a real discussion? Your track record isn't working in your favor.

Just as I thought.....you got nobody

You're wrong, I just am not going to play your little trolling game. Have fun playing with yourself.
