Clarification: I posted this thread in the General Global topics forum instead of Religion and Ethics forum because the pope’s address to the UN General Assembly reaffirmed a universal truth:
The priest overturned the truth with a marriage between organized religion and global government, which is a lot more destructive than a union between religion and the government of a single nation.
Hallelujah and amen on the bright side. After several days of the Catholic network running non-stop coverage of the pope's whereabouts, the priest finally left our shores; hopefully, never to return. I was beginning to think he was never going to leave.
Now that the priest is gone, I want to offer my interpretation of the meaning of his visit. Since he addressed the United Nations, I’ll begin with my favorite punching bag:
The United Nations is the driving force behind establishing Socialism as the one true religion. United Nations headquarters in Manhattan is Socialism’s cathedral on par with Saint Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. If Socialism has a cathedral it is surely UN headquarters in Manhattan.
The worst of it is that it is probably too late to legally define Socialism as a religion. Not one federal judge in a century defined Socialism as a religion. Not one judge on the Appellate Courts, or on the SCOTUS, defined it in a minority opinion. I had hoped that a pope laying down the same crap Socialists promote with tax dollars:
would give our defenders of the Constitution a clue:
No such luck. To get five justices on the Supreme Court to say Socialism is a religion would be an admission that all of those federal judges going back to 1913 were either filthy lying sneaks, or they were too goddamned stupid to know a religion when it beats them over the head.
Liberal justices are definitely lying sneaks, but I suspect that most High Court judges are intellectually stunted by tunnel vision. They CANNOT see Socialist churches and cathedrals; therefore, Socialism is not a religion as they see it. Being unable to define a religion because it lacks an identifiable physical structures is a sign of stupidity in an average person; it is a crippling disease in a judge.
Bottom line: You’ll never get one Supreme Court judge to admit Socialism is a religion let alone get five who will hand down such a ruling.
Most people in the Christian world have a Vatican mindset even if they are not Roman Catholics. If they cannot see a central authority, a pope for instance, they refuse to see Communism as a religion. That defense of Communism, whether intentional or instinctive, does not stand up to scrutiny.
Incidentally, there never was a Communist Roman Catholic pope until Francis (nee Jorge) came along. (Wisenheimers could call him Frank or George for a joke.)
Let’s start with the fact that Communism is a relatively new religion; so it can hardly be expected to have a network of cathedrals and mosques. More importantly, Socialists/Communists fear the day their religion is defined as a religion in the courts.
NOTE: Karl Marx set out to destroy organized religion, specifically Christianity; so our leading Communists also fear being identified as priests because they would run into the First Amendment —— tax dollar tithing becomes indefensible on the day that Socialism/Communism is legally defined as a religion.
There are many Communist houses of worship, such as the ACLU, and the Department of Education. I would include Labor Temples, but most have shut down since the early days of the Labor Movement. Labor temples falling on hard times stems from the fact that practitioners of traditional religions might also belong to a labor union. Basically, bring a Muslim into a Christian church and ask him to convert to Christianity and he will walk out. Bring a Muslim or a Christian into a Labor Temple and tell them it is about organized labor —— not religion —— and they will sign up without hesitation.
Every religion in the world tries to lure unwary non-believers inside the door so they can work on them. Devotees of traditional religions often cannot see a spiritual threat in the tax collector’s morality; so they let their guard down. The tax collector’s morality, more than anything else, is why Socialism/Communism has been so insidious among working Americans.
The difference without a distinction
The only difference between those who identify themselves as Socialists, and those who identify themselves as Communists, is that Socialist priests advocate incrementalism, while Communist priests advocate violent revolution.
The difference that unites
The major difference between Socialism and the other religions is that lay Socialists benefit from the labors of non-Socialists right alongside Socialism’s priesthood. Before Socialists gained control of the public purse every priesthood had to rely on the generosity of their flocks. No religion had the authority to force others to contribute, at least not in America. Now, everyone who is paid a tax dollar for their morality is either a Socialist or becomes one very quickly.
Every religion has one thing in common that will never change: Prey on superstition.
Manipulating superstition is hardly new. Human gargoyles defend the Socialist cathedral for the same reason stone gargoyles defended medieval cathedrals —— frighten unbelievers away with images of terrifying creatures protecting what is holy and good. (Stone gargoyles face outward —— not inward.)
Saints in search of haloes had an easier time of it in the good old days. When Socialists finally got around to building their Cathedral in Manhattan the secretary-general became their pope defending Socialism’s just as the pope defends Roman Catholicism. If this is not a cathedral, Saint Patrick’s is an indoor ball park:

Don’t ask to see cathedrals, or mosques, or temples as proof that Socialism is a religion. Instead, look to belief. A Socialist is every bit the true believer as is a devotee of every organized religion.

United Nations headquarters is a cathedral to the liberal media. One does not crap on the steps of one’s church.
On a personal note
Over the years, countless message board Lefties attacked me personally as their way to dismiss my charge that Socialism is a religion. I usually suggested that they try to visualize how they would react if a priesthood not of their choice took their money to proselytize not to mention profit. To be more precise: Imagine the Catholic priesthood, or Muslims, or Buddhists, etc., using the courts, the press, and education to force you to obey as does the Socialist priesthood.
Finally, the priest addressed non-existent “world leaders” before the guests arrived for the birthday boy’s bash:
Now that the New World Order crowd has the pope’s blessing only God knows what that bunch is planning for mankind.
Government and organized religion will always plague mankind. The trick is to limit government and keep organized religion voluntary. Give either one too much power and freedom dies.
