a liberal abode

For the fourth time now:

1) How does welfare create these conditions, and not poverty?

2) How many people slipped into poverty during the Bush administration?

When not handled properly, an environment of dependency and despair is created. It is dangerous all around. Incentive needs to be fed, not displaced.

perhaps the first step in getting rid of 'dependency" would be getting rid of reimbursement requirements that make it impossible for people to take a low level job and pay back what they would owe the government.

perhaps another step in getting rid of 'dependency' would be funding head start programs, job training programs and providing daycare for unwed mothers (the majority of whom are white, by the way) which would allow them to work.

oh yeah, and keeping abortion and birth control legal and insured since white single mothers form the largest single group on welfare... no matter how much the right uses it as a buzz word for blacks.

Jillian, you have not replied to my question?

Then don't vote for Romney.

I disagree. What your looking at is the long term result of a short term program.

Welfare

So it has nothing to do with poverty?

Welfare exists because poverty exists. You can argue that welfare does not assist people in becoming wealthier, but I've never heard anyone suggest welfare forces people in to poverty.

You seem to be confused. Long-term poverty, generational poverty, exists because welfare continues to subsidize that poverty. If you removed the impetus that encourages sloth instead of industry, you might be surprised how many became less impoverished.

Well brighter.

They're a cancer, we'll never get rid of them and they will end by destroying everything.

If Romney gets in and the Senate goes New Republican we wil get rid of them once and for all.
They'll be sure to make us great again to a point Liberals will not even be considered.
This New Republican Party will create possibilities for all.

Did you see Wolf Blitzer and company turn his back on the Pledge Allegiance to the Flag at the RNC? What a liberal disgrace........ Then they wouldn't stand while America's song played.
Scumbags.. all for an agenda to destroy American.
I still have a hard time knowing people on welfare vote for Libs who got them there and keep a foot over there throats.

People on welfare are the ignorant products of our indoctrination system and biased media. The media, there's no excuse. They are conscious co-conspirators in the piecemeal destruction of our Nation. They should be careful what they wish for and actively support. Suppression of the press is one of the hallmarks of a full-blown communist/marxist government.

Slums created by progressives in the 70's? How can you say this? There were far worse slums in America in the 1800's and early 1900's. "How the other half lives" by Jacob Riis is pretty good reading with lots of pictures. So the idea that food stamps, head start, welfare, or any government help at all is the cause of slums is just not correct.

Slums in this country were created by progressives. In the 70s a bunch of liberal fat cats set up the scheme that gave us "inner city" projects.

"Worse" is an ephemeral term...yes they were worse 100 years ago,but times were different.

The inner cities of today were created by democrats who sponsored and shoved through subsidized housing via federal funding. Dems bought property cheap, the government provided the with money to make apartment buildings or projects, and subsidized the rent of people who would move in. People who find subsidized housing attractive are generally people who qualify for foodstamps and tanf.
