Have a lottery where you get a thousand dollars just for playing, but if you play you have to take a pill that could be fatally poisoned (1 chance in a thousand it is). Everyone can play as many times as they like.

Then people could voluntarily elect themselves for possible removal to reduce the population and make money too.

Win-win for everyone!

Isnt this a great idea?

Does it bother you at all to know you are advocating murder?

Unless you are talking about suicide, how is it murder?

And why should a person not have the right to do what they want with their own life anyway?

It reeks of stupid. First of all, how many people are going to join this stupid lottery?

Second of all, why not tell religious extremists to STFU and get birth control to everyone that wants it? I guarantee population growth will shrink much faster this way.

You don't see how looking for ways to take the lives of others is wrong?

No one is taking anyones life except for them when they take the pill that could be poisoned.

You would apparently be surprised. Look at how many people do dangerous things with a similar survival rate; from base jumping (1 in 163) to smoking cigs (1 in 7) to driving to the store (1 in 98) you risk your life every day, and for what? A quick sense of pleasure? A gallon of milk? Then why not for a thousand bucks?

I have never met a single person who wants birth control and cannot get it. Do you?

You are worrying about snow snakes.

Since there is no overpopulation, it is a moot point.

No overpopulation? What planet are you from?

All the scientists agree that this planet was never 'meant' (whatever the hell that means) to hold more than a billion people!

/sarc

I tend to agree with you, but whats wrong with a little self-culling of the herd anyway?

Hmmmm.... a thousand to one that you die?

What's the second prize?

No second prize Sherlock.

You take your pill and you get your money with a pat on the back for good luck.

How can there be a second prize? lol.

This one. There is no overpopulation.

But how can all those scientists be WRONG?

lol

OK, I will confess that this thread is a lampoon of the pro-abortion arguments.

There is nothing I have proposed here that doesnt equally apply to abortionists and the wreckage that they make on our populations.

"The Long Walk" by Richard Bachman, a.k.a. Stephen King.

100 'players' start walking and must maintain a speed of 4 mph. As they drop from fatigue, they are gunned down by soldiers who follow in trucks.
Last man walking gets everything he wants for the rest of his life.

Now there's a way to thin the herd AND get the media ratings that will pay the winners.

Nah, all we have to do is give nature a little more time and things will take care of themselves. Sooner or later all our antibiotic's will stop killing what kills us, a major infectious disease will wipe out a huge chunk of the population and all will be right with the world.

There is no overpopulation to begin with.

Why are we a society that isn't blinking twice about proposals to murder people?

Because we currently murder millions of our own every year?

And so we want to compound that by killing millions more for a non-existant problem?
