A great example of 'fake news' this time from Newsweek

The title of the article reads :

"VIOLENCE TOWARD COPS SKYROCKETED IN 2016 AND WHITES ARE MOSTLY RESPONSIBLE"

And then the article further reads :

"Sixty-six officers were killed, either by being shot or run down intentionally, in 2016, but out of 59 cop-killing suspects only 15 were black."

So okay, seems straightforward, cops need to worry more when they're around white people then, since apparently they are more likely to be the victim of violence around white people. Right ?

But these are just raw #'s and do not take in to count the white percentage and black percentage of the population.

Blacks make up about 12%-13% of the population, which in this case means they commited about 25% of the murders of these cops.
And lets be honest, it's highly likely most if not all of this 25% were committed by black males.

So in actuality, cops need to be more concerned when they interact with a black perp versus a white perp, and yet the title of this article sends you to a different conclusion.
How damn dishonest.

More cops were killed in the line of duty last year than in any year since 2011, leading many, including some in the FBI, to falsely connect the increase in violence with the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Earlier this month, the FBI declared that "black identity extremists" are a violent threat to officers, but data released by the Bureau on Monday shows white people are actually much more of a threat to cops.

Sixty-six officers were killed, either by being shot or run down intentionally, in 2016, but out of 59 cop-killing suspects only 15 were black.

Violence toward cops skyrocketed in 2016 and whites are mostly responsible

Fake news is a problem, and especially when it's from what is viewed as a legitimate source, it really needs to be called out.
