A Day of Mourning....the Fall of the Wall

Yes, it always was a very real threat. Unfortunately the same liberals that were lying to us then that there was no "real threat" are still here today. Lying about how communism isn't a threat. Lying how Islamic fundamentalists aren't a real threat.

I don't remember any liberals back then stating there was no threat. Weren't they the ones protecting us from the Soviet threat?

Of course there were liberals telling us communism and the USSR wasn't a real threat. Hell, liberals were more afraid of Reagan and Thatcher than of the communists. According to libs back then, they were right wing nuts that were going to start a nuclear war.

The Soviet Union turned out to be not as big a threat as we had projected. Their equipment was outdated, maintenance was poor, troops poorly trained, morale was low. Nuclear wise they were still a threat. Conventional forces were overrated.
Communism as a political/economic system was never a threat at all. The idea that their ideology would take hold in the US was never an issue

In 1962? Who?

Hell, liberals were more afraid of Reagan and Thatcher than of the communists.

In 1962? Aren't you confusing your decades?

Kennedy was a right wing nut?

You seem to be contradicting yourself. Are you saying a nuclear threat isn't a big threat? Their ideology seems to have taken hold in the US. Our own President seems to subscribe to the defunct ideology.

I'm talking about the 1980's. Or are you confused about when Reagan and Thatcher were in power?

Only in the warped brains of people like yourself. You see the free peoples of the Western European nations as communist. Yet that are as free as we are, in some ways, more free.

Actually the joke was on US, they didn't realize the power of their system on others. Now we can say we no longer have it, honestly. The real power was with the people, what was 'assumed' with communism', but realized for a moment in time with US. Can we get it back? Forbes thinks so, at least a part. Me? I'm uncertain in the serious uncertain.

Contradicting myself??

Other than the rants of Glenn Beck and the FoxNews posse, can you substantiate your statement?
