...is not a compelling argument.
But it's the only one you've got, isn't it?
I know, your life just got rocked this week. And that makes you sad.
Only a progressive with oligarichal tendencies can consider a 5-4 split vote by 9 unlected on the job for life individuals " the people" speaking.
My life will continue, Fakie.
Sadly, yours will continue to suck.
The polls will quite evidence that the American people agree with the decisions.
Social traditionalists no longer control the mores of the country, thank heavens.
Polls dont mean anything because the way you ask the question matters more sometimes than the actual answer.
1. Do you support the right of two same sex people in love to have thier marriage recognized by the state?
2. Do you support the traditional definintion of marriage, that is between a man and a woman?
Notice both are basically the same question in reverse, but both are positive. I guarnatee you will get overlap if you ask them in a poll a few days apart.
Also Prop 8 actually PASSED. Thats the real will of the people, in the ballot box.
marty, you are simply whining. The American people accept this, your minority no longer rules the morality of America. This is over. Get on with your life.
YOU havent read my previous posts. I have no issue with marriage being redefined via the legislative process. What I dont see is it as a right to be imposed by the courts. To me the DOMA ruling was right on soverginity grounds of state vs. federal. what was wrong is Prop 8 should have be ruled consitutional by the same grounds, that it is a state issue not a federal one.
Your position is the ends justify the means, which is the basis of most of the horrible things that have happened in history.
What you do not see about SCOTUS power of judicial matters is not material to anything. If you are just saying, "I am unhappy and whining", OK, I get that.
So you dont answer my statements with one of your own, you just go to the deflections.
And my views on the SCOTUS are material as this is a DISCUSSION BOARD not an "agree with starkey so his ego may get fluffed" board.
