Sounds like a good idea. But, what about the lab work and specialists, if they're needed. The tv show, Royal Pains, works along this line and seems to be just what this story is all about.

This works fine for basic care, but you still need insurance in case you get sick. If our system was set up the way I think it should be, then everyone who could would pay for this type of basic care out of pocket. Those who are on welfare or are very low income would be covered by Medicaid which would be paid directly to these doctors. After that, everyone would need to carry a major medical type insurance that covered them if they needed care beyond their basic care doctor.

If so....why is the author trying to mislead readers?
