These views are not this particular conservative’s view of liberals.

I am quite conservative today but, at one time, I was quite liberal - read young - (so my liberal views have actually helped me form the conservative opinions I hold today).

Personally, I started becoming a (neo)conservative when I became disenchanted with the anti-American stance of the liberal anti-war movement back in the sixties.

You see, for enlisting during Vietnam, I was portrayed as a baby-killer and war-monger by the liberal establishment. However, in reality, I was never in favor of the war. Nope, I volunteered because my father had served in the navy and I simply wanted to follow in his footsteps.

So, I was one of those sailors who wore a peace symbol on his dog tags but, at the same time, I always did my duty to the best of my ability. Indeed, there were a lot of us like that. We were very liberal but it was the far-left liberal establishment that drove us away.

And, to this day, we still seek honest and fair solutions to our nation’s problems but we have grown enough to keep an open mind about considering all solutions (including conservative ones).

Letting someone pay at a slightly lower rate than they would have, while still at a higher rate than all others is not redistribution. Protecting life is a higher moral purpose. Telling gays they can't hijack a religious institution using the state is understanding the Constitution.
