A bill that could make a significant change for Palestinian children

And that is the real problem. Abi and others would like us to believe like these children are being grabbed while playing soccer or some innocent games; I.e. for no reason.

Yep.

In my mind, the real problem is that people like abi believe they are making a legitimate criticism of Israel. But by failing to apply these standards universally they are really just unfairly demonizing Israel.

Case studies: Children in the Palestinian Justice System

Name: Mustafa M, 12
Detained: December 1, 2013
Location: Balata refugee camp, Nablus

Mustafa M, 12, was injured in an explosion and detained for one week.

At 6:30 pm Mustafa was with his friend Mahmoud near the entrance of Balata refugee camp. He was caught in clashes with Palestinian security forces and injured by a grenade that landed near him. Mustafa’s right leg was bleeding profusely and he was taken to a health center.

Mahmoud was also injured, and both boys were taken to the emergency department at Rafidia Hospital, Nablus.

As they were being treatment, Palestinian police arrived and took Mahmoud away. Mustafa received five stitches and was guarded by two policemen in a hospital room overnight.

The next day Mustafa was taken to a court and detained in a cell for an hour. He was then asked to give a statement in the presence of a lawyer and his father, before being detained first with adults overnight in a prison.

Mustafa appeared in court on December 3, when his detention was extended. He was released on bail on December 8.
Indeed, the Palestinian security forces are armed, paid, and trained by the US and work for Israel.

I find it more than amazing that in this day and age we need a law to protect children from torture or cruel, inhumane, or degrading treatment, physical violence, including restraint in stress positions, hooding, sensory deprivation, death threats, or other forms of psychological abuse, incommunicado detention and solitary confinement, but we apparently do.

I see this as another huge step towards a solution and I want to encourage all Americans that read this thread to contact their representatives and get them to pass this thing. Not another cent for this pathetic treatment of children!

You can read the bill in full here: https://mccollum.house.gov/sites/mccollum.house.gov/files/documents/17.1107MCCOLL_005_xml.pdf

Except it is not a bill.

Yeah. Huh. When Palestinians abuse children it Israel's fault.

They couldn't possibly create and hold themselves to laws which protect children. They are, in fact, so incapable of their own agency that they can't even help themselves but to abuse children.

And you want these people to run a country?

Perhaps we could get another bill which states that all Arab Palestinian parents who knowingly and willfully permit their children to perform criminal acts which endanger the safety of others shall be imprisoned on behalf of their children.
And that is the real problem. Abi and others would like us to believe like these children are being grabbed while playing soccer or some innocent games; I.e. for no reason.
playing soccer?
Israel exonerates itself over Gaza beach killings of four children last year

Is it odd that in all the responses that nobody has even tried refuting the facts contained in the bill? And while team Israel has pointed out that they understand this horror (see all the posts accusing Muslims of harming children), they have done nothing about it in their own backyard, nor mentioned how despicable their practices are towards the indigenous children?

This is huge. It looks like the UK is onboard.

Early day motion 563

MILITARY DETENTION OF PALESTINIAN CHILDREN BY ISRAELI AUTHORITIES

That this House notes with concern that hundreds of Palestinian children continue to be arrested, detained and tried in Israeli military courts, despite the practice involving widespread and systematic violations of international law and being widely condemned; further notes that allegations of ill-treatment at the hands of Israeli authorities include blindfolding, physical violence and arrest at night; notes the disparity between the treatment of Israeli and Palestinian children by Israeli authorities and calls for those authorities to treat Palestinian children in a way that is not inferior to the way they would any Israeli child; notes that, as the occupying power in the West Bank, Israel has a responsibility under international human rights conventions for the safety, welfare and human rights protection of Palestinian children living under occupation; notes with concern that the recommendations of Unicef's 2013 Children in Israeli Military Detention Report remain largely unmet; and urges the Government to urgently engage with the Government of Israel to end the widespread and systemic human rights violations suffered by Palestinian children in Israeli military custody.
