92% prefer Sweden! D'OH! LOL!

Sweden has a much higher suicide rate than the US. Interesting, being as it's so fucking great to live there. Dumb Swedes don't seem to realize how much luckier they are than us. LMAO.

Good thing everyone knows how terrible socialism is. Otherwise, these findings would be shocking.

Americans vastly underestimate the degree of wealth inequality in America, and believe that the distribution should be far more equitable than it actually is, according to a new study.

Or, as the study’s authors put it: “All demographic groups — even those not usually associated with wealth redistribution such as Republicans and the wealthy — desired a more equal distribution of wealth than the status quo.”

More interesting than that, the report says, is that the respondents (a randomly selected 5,522-person sample, reflecting the country’s ideological, economic and gender demographics, surveyed in December 2005) believed the top 20 percent should own only 32 percent of the wealth. Respondents with incomes over $100,000 per year had similar answers to those making less than $50,000. (The report has helpful, multi-colored charts.)

The respondents were presented with unlabeled pie charts representing the wealth distributions of the U.S., where the richest 20 percent controlled about 84 percent of wealth, and Sweden, where the top 20 percent only controlled 36 percent of wealth. Without knowing which country they were picking, 92 percent of respondents said they’d rather live in a country with Sweden’s wealth distribution.:eusa_angel:

Nice link you don't have.

I'll give you this - I find it plausible that 92% OF AMERICANS LIVING IN SWEDEN agree with the shit socialism.

The notion that 92% of US citizens are favorable to Swedens socialism is an outright and downright batshit lie and IS nothing more than propaganda.

Thanks for that but murkins aren't smart enough to grasp social democracy. Immediately Marxism , Commie and pinko fag bleat from their minuscule brains.

You need to look up the terms in the dictionary, and in fact there has NEVER been a socialist country that wasn't also communist.

Read up, sparky.

There never has been a Socialist country.

Nonsense. The soviet union, the PRC before reform, north korea, eastern europe within the soviet empire, etc all had government ownership of the means of production and distribution, and therefore met the definition of socialist. Such countries also established the artifacts of communism, eg secret police, political prisons, and mass murder, but that's not the economic system.

Or is it a necessary handmaiden of socialism? It's a stunning fact that all countries with a socialist economic system have also been communist. (I can think of one possible exception - the early years of Israel where almost all economic activity was on the socialist kibbutzes.)

I prefer Sweden too.

The arrogance of obama daring to compare himself with Lincoln reminds me of the famous putdown of Bill Clinton by Reagan who tried to compare himself with thomas jefferson, when he was runnig against Bush 1. Enjoy!

Only Pub dupes are correct- the rest of the world thinks socialism is social democracy, and communism is communis. The point of this survey is pub dupes know NOTHING- including what the wealth division IS HERE.

Do you think 400 families should have as much wealth as the poorest 60%?

Better questions:
If socialism works, then...
...Why did the socialist communism experience in the USSR fail?
Ditto for cambodia, North Korea and Cuba?
Why didn't China start becoming a major economic playa until they start to embrace capitalism, private enterprise, private foreign investment, private property etc?
Why is socialist welfare states in Europe crumbling?
Why has Venezuela been falling even further under Hugo Fat Ass, even though they have ginormous oil reserves to support their economy?

Funny, i have friends who are Swedish and all they do is complain about the national system, complain about the health care system, complain that they could be doing so much better in different country. They are looking to move to AU or the US

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence ya know.

92% of Americans? Bullshit. 92% of liberals? Possibly. I've only one thing to say to them then:

Emigrate now. Don't let the door hitcha where the Lord splitcha, and leave your citizenship in the can next to the door as you go. We'll be happy to replace you ingrate mothefuckers with eager legal immigrants who understand the blessing of such freedom and economic liberty.
