911 the first plane hit already

as a child, i watched those twin towers go up, quicker than lightening, it was amazing how quickly it seemed to go...

just saw it...

i'm having a little trouble watching it. gonna shut it off in a minute, i think and head to work. i'm not sure i feel like reliving that horrible day. I was just htinking how I left the apartment right after to take my son to his first day of pre-k and my husband called and said i should go back and get him because there was still a plane missing.

I relive every anniversary, and rewatch the events, and cry, and pray and soul search...I had business dealings in both towers several times a year before they went down...I am gratetful to be alive and not have been scheduled in the City that day! Still so saddened at the same time... :(

reliving it on msnbc

They had released a bunch of the 911 calls a few years back. I always wanted to get to a website where you could listen to some of them.

I never could because my work computer has so much blocked. I was just getting started at work. I had a new boss who was from NY, he kept trying to get his wife who had not moved here yet on the phone and he couldn't get through.

We watched the towers go down on a small tv we had there. I remember crying all the way home because I felt life would never be the same. Malls, stores, gas stations were closed. People were panicking because gas was rumored to be going up sky high. There were waiting lines to get gas.

What a sad, sad day.

I have more than a few friends who had to run out of the area. I think today is very difficult for them. One of my close friends worked for Marsh & McClennon (sp?) and she was running a bit late because her daughter wasn't cooperating with getting ready for school... Her "team" had 30 or 40 people in it. She was the only one who survived because she got out of the subway AFTER the building was hit.

Another friend's husband is a fireman... he spent weeks looking for his best friend's remains. I don't think they ever found any.

Another friend had one of the bodies that fell from the tower splatter blood all over him. He was in therapy for years after.

The second hit was 10 stories above the office I worked in while I was in law school. I loved the view... there was this long window where I could look at the statue of liberty.

I don't like celebrating victimhood... but I do believe in celebrating life. And that's what I'm going to do today.

Off to work.

*hugs*

I was at Foxwoods Casino in southern connecticut, on vacation with matt...it was a beautiful day, clear, clear, clear skies such as today....we woke up to this....we could not check out of the Hotel quick enough, to just make it home to call the parents and family and friends, and feel safe again.

I remember my wife letting me sleep in as it was my birthday......Woke up to see a jet smash into the second tower........It was sureal......I just though is this a bad joke....What the hell is going on. Obviously my birthday is not the way it used to be before that day.

I'm sorry :( 'bout the b-day...

but you are still celebrating it! So we can all be thankful as well!

Yeah, I'm with you Jillian. I haven't forgotten it. But I don't care to relive it either.

No doubt that MANY people lost FAR more that day than I did.

"The "Patriot" Act was one of the worst things EVER for our freedoms. "

You know, I hear this statement and many like it made so often. YET, not a single voice raised in outrage that Obama voted FOR the Patriot Act both times it came up for vote and is in the process right now of renewing and expanding it! It boggles my mind the number of things that so many are willing to give Obama a pass for while defiling and berating anyone with an (R) behind their names as the ONLY culprits in their outrage. Sorry, but blatant hypocrisy is not simply a game anymore.

he was NOT a member of the US SENATE when the patriot act was originally voted on or passed?

The Patriot Act was voted on by the Us Congress in October, 2001 when Obama was a State Senator. Nice try.

True.

Obama's record shows he voted against cloture on the reauthorization, then for the eventual compromise legislation.
Not his most shining moment in some regards, but very realistic in others.
