Bush wants "$5 billion for Iraqi Border Security". What about our border with Mexico? When will we have Troops on it?

I would have to say security in Iraq and what may leave there takes precedence at this point.

I do agree our own borders are crap, and should have been reinforced over 10 years ago.

There are troops on the border... unfortunately they are there for the War on Drugs (there's a whole different thread), not border patrol.

But I agree... we should have troops on the border with Mexico. Those attempting to cross illegally... well, sorry.

hmmm. VP Haliburton is rolling in it.

Their up to 1.4 billion in contracts.

"The latest increase, a jump from the $1.25 billion figure posted two weeks ago, reflects higher costs for damage assessments and repairs.

The value of the task order for that work has risen to $769 million from $320 million as of Sept. 8.

The other leading high-cost item is importing fuel needed for domestic Iraqi uses. "

"The problem is this: too much money appears to be going to Halliburton and Bechtel while costing the U.S. taxpayer millions and imperiling the goal of Iraqi reconstruction," wrote Waxman, a vocal critic of U.S. contracts in Iraq."
