House passes resolution disapproving of Russia being included in future G7 summits

The House on Tuesday passed a resolution disapproving of Russia being included in future Group of Seven (G-7) summits in a 339-71 vote on Tuesday.

The resolution was introduced by Rep. Albio Sires (D-N.J.) in August after President Trump said in August he believed Russia should be readmitted into the G-7. Russia was expelled from the G-8 in 2014 due to its occupation of territory in Ukraine.

The resolution includes language reiterating the United States’ support for Ukraine while denouncing the country’s occupation of Crimea and destabilization in the region.

Incidentally, they also think all should be forgotten with respect to Russia's attack on our democracy during the 2016 election (and what Russia is currently doing to corrupt the 2020 election according to the intel agencies) because Dear Leader wants them to.

Which begs the question....................why does Dear Leader want them to?

Which brings another question to mind. Why hasn't Trump done...........basically anything...........to help secure the upcoming election from foreign influence? Is his sensitivity to admitting Russia helped him in 2016 so great he refuses to address a dire national security matter for 2020? Apparently so.

The pro-Russia posture is one of the hallmarks of the New Trumpbulbican party. The Unitary Executive and those who believe the American President cannot be held accountable for his actions have great disdain for our functioning Democracy. These guys are charter members.

Your observation speaks to how completely Trump has transformed what was once a party that believed in limited power of the government and understood Russia as one of our primary adversaries. No more. It's now the POT and the party's policies are whatever Trump says they are from day to day.

Pretending Russia doesn't exist is not a foreign policy.

Not to mention it was Obama who told Romney Russia was no threat. Then did nothing as Russia "meddled" in our election.

Pretending Russia doesn't exist? No one is suggesting we do that. The question is, why does Trump want to reward Putin for meddling in our election and occupying part of a country that is an ally? And why isn't he doing more to protect the US from future election influence on the part of foreign countries?

Because there is more to gain from having Russia at the table where influence can be exercised by the group towards them than simply ignoring them.

Personally I think we should abolish all these "world order groups"
They are all feckless and only serve to enrich themselves.

You are blaming Republicans for Crimea? What would you have them do, declare war on Russia? :bigboy:

You are blaming Republicans for Crimea?
No. Did you read the post? I asked why they are willing to let Russia off the hook for occupying Crimea and for interfering in our election?

None of them were President like Obama was when he was supposed to stop it and instead offered his gay butt to Putin for pleasure. When Ukraine was invaded and begged us for bullets, Obama gave them blankets.

Fuck Putin, he is a fag
Fuck Obama he is a fag married to a transvestite with a dick and man hands.
Fuck Russia

It is fine.

Over 60% of Crimeans are ethnic Russians and in 2014 96% of Crimeans - yes, NINETY-SIX PERCENT - voted "yes" in a public referendum to join the Russian Federation.

Why do you hate democracy and self-determination?

There are many degrees of confrontation between cowardly collaboration and war. For instance Trump could act less like a guy that is being blackmailed.

Dang, you are one seriously crazy squirrel.

Crimea has been part of Russia since the beginning of time (Khrushchev gave Crimea to the Ukraine). The majority of the people living in Crimea are Russian, and the next largest group is Tartar who are generally pro Russian.

Beside which, expecting Russia to give up their naval base at Sevastopol would be like asking the U.S. to give up San Diego...it ain't gonna happen.

Crimea isn't the issue...Russia supporting a war in eastern Ukraine is the issue...along with Russia owning the President of the U.S. and fixing the 2016 election for him.
