6 In 10 Young Republicans Favor Legal Marijuana...So why dont Republicans?

Let's tackle "traditions and values". Until the 1930's, marihuana was legal. And it's been in use for thousands of years.

Not in decent society it hasn't been used for thousands of years.

There are lots of substances which produce "altered mental states" including coffee, sugar, alcohol and wine. Eating a turkey sandwich with a glass of milk will make you drowsy. Are you proposing that all substances that alter your mental state be banned?

For the most part, YES. I probably wouldn't ban the turkey sandwich, but alcohol, wine, coffee, caffeine, tobacco, etc.... would all be right out the door so far as I'm concerned.

There is no logic or reason to your beliefs and yet you would inflict them on the rest of us.

There is absolutely a logic to it. I would inflict this all on you in order to ensure that this society returns to one of decency rather than the absolute chaos that we now have. Unless people can be held 100% responsible for their actions while under the influence of a substance, that substance has no place in society.

The U.S. has incarcerated thousands of people because of laws prohibiting pot. The costs for keeping people in prison for pot use are onerous, not to mention the wreckage this makes of lives. These laws are disproportionately used against young black men, criminalizing these men which affects their families and their job prospects.

I agree, don't incarcerate them..... EXTERMINATE them with extreme prejudice.

ok....and you dont want to use it.....are you against others using it IF, they feel it helps out their problems?.....

I will not use it. I would not support anyone else who uses it In any way but I'm enough of a realist to understand that others will use it.
would you use a pharmaceutical if the side effects see
No, it's an ignorance issue for you, and nothing more. I repeat: They have cultivated a variety of cannabis that completely lacks THC and consequently has no psychoactive effect whatsoever. It's no different from the fact that there are mushrooms that you eat as food, and then there are mushrooms that some people take as a recreational drug.

To say that it's a morality issue is beyond stupid. Of course, you'd know that if you'd actually watched the video.

Oh! Ok... I'm for legalizing the Pot that doesn't get you high. And for moving up the penalty for possession of pot that does get ya high to the death penalty.

There ya go... make it so.

Glad we got that worked out.

Tell the Kids that the Swimmer worked that out for 'em.

At least we can agree on some part of it. Though I don't see how marijuana prohibition has done any good for our society. If people want to drink themselves to death, let them. Same with smoking cigarettes, or pot. Hell, I wouldn't be opposed to government spending to provide people with all the heroin and meth their little hearts desire. Hurry up and die. Sometimes the best way to deal with a fire is to let it burn itself out.

in a free society thats just fine. But in our current socialist society where we all pay the medical bills of the smokers, drinkers, druggies, etc. then it doesn't work.

I personally don't care if you smoke yourself to death, but I don't want to pay for your cancer treatment.
if the smoker is paying into a policy then you aint paying for it......

you obviously don't understand how insurance works.
yea i do....if i am paying into a policy then i get what the policy says i get......and if it says i get rehab then i get rehab paid for by me and my ins co......not you....

No, I would not. Almost 10 years ago I had 31 teeth pulled out over two consecutive Mondays (12 on the lst Monday in Sept & 19 on the first Monday in Oct). The highest level pain medication I used during that time was 2 Advil every 4-6 hours. I got prescriptions for Percocet, but they were torn up and never filled.

For me this is a MORALITY issue not a pharmaceutical one; therefore nothing the video could show would make a difference.

Hey rape laws are not 100% maybe we should get rid of them as well and save some money right?

What a fucking stupid thing to say. Rape involves an assault against another person. There is a victim in rape. There is no victim when someone smokes pot. Prohibition of alcohol was quickly recognized as a failure. Prohibition of pot is no less a failure, but it clings on in public policy, largely thanks to fucking idiots like you.
Awwww don't like the comparison of your addiction to rape even though both do harm to others?

You know........I'm still wondering where the "morality" of this comes into play. I mean...........it says in the Bible that when God kicked Adam and Eve out of the Garden, one of the things he told them was that if it grows out of the ground, they could have it.

Interestingly enough, cannabis was one of the oils required for the Holy Anointing Oil for the Kings of Israel. Even Jesus got bathed in it at one time.

Besides...................can anyone point to a verse that says smoking cannabis is a sin?

It's a beneficial plant, and while different varieties may be a bit more potent than they were 50 years ago, remember this...................many different varieties of vegetables (corn, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, peas, etc.) have been selectively bred to make them produce better crops. Cross pollinating to make a better product isn't making drugs, it's cross pollinating plants.

I dare anyone to show me where in states where it is sold legally via the stores where ANY grower puts additives on their plants.

You won't.
Belladonna grows out of the ground to you stupid fuck

Never been a big FAN of pain, but at certain times in life it is necessary to endure physical or emotional/mental pain to protect one's Spirit/Soul from potentially being injured.

Pain reminds me I'm alive.... whether it's my knees, my right forearm, my jaw and sinuses, or the multitude of other injury remnants I deal with on a regular basis. It's when the pain fully stops (not a regular occurance) that I begin to wonder whether I'm still alive or if I've died.
