WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Monday lobbied for Republican support from Capitol Hill for a burst of spending on transportation projects, calling his proposal a jobs creator for the middle class and an overdue investment in the country’s foundation.

"There’s no reason why we can’t do this," Obama said in a brief Rose Garden event. "There’s no reason why the world’s best infrastructure should lie beyond our borders. This is America. We’ve always had the best infrastructure ... All we need is the political will."

Really?....No, seriously?!?!?

We already have billions upon billions collected in federal fuel taxes (about 20% of which gets hijacked for urban mass transit boondoggles, BTW), untold billions collected at the state level, and a nearly $1 trillion unstimulating succubus bill, which was supposed to fund all them "shovel ready" infrastructure projects, and now the Boyking and his Bolsheviketts go pimping for another $50 billion?

Who, besides those banging up the DNC smack, is buying this?

Anyone who has made up their mind to do something, even though the previous 5,219 trials have failed.

Whose buying it? The politicians and their cronies who will feed from this earmarked porkfest.

Why not use some of the $200B or so unspent Stimulus money for this if it is such a BURNING PRIORITY?

its time to (goose) pork the voting block one more time, learned from the master, FDR....and just a replay..

Democratic Districts Won Twice as Much Stimulus as GOP Districts, Study Shows

snip-

The Mercatus Center at George Mason University reviewed the distribution of $157 billion in stimulus dollars based on publicly available reports and found that there was "no statistical correlation" between the amount of money a district got and its income or unemployment rate.

"You would think, right, that if the administration believes in its theory that government money can create jobs, they would spend a lot of money in districts that have high unemployment," study co-author Veronique de Rugy said. "We found absolutely no relationship. It just kind of shows that the money is spent kind of randomly."

Rather, the study found that Democratic congressional districts received 1.89 times more money than GOP districts. The average award for Democratic districts was $439 million, while the average award for Republican ones was $232 million.

Whew, I thought this was a story about Iraq's infrastructure but I think we spent way more than a measly 50 billion. I agree with the OP, we dont need no stinking infrastructure. How in the world would better roads and bridges help anyone?

The unions.

All infrastructure jobs are over priced over paid union jobs.

This crook just can't find enough ways to continue spending us into impoverishment.

Two former transportation secretaries who recently co-chaired a panel that proposes gas tax hikes and user fees to pay for government transportation projects joined President Obama Monday as he called for a $50 billion immediate investment in roads, rails and runways.

What's the Iraq fiasco going to end up costing us?

Somewhere around a trillion or so.

There's money well spent, why not bitch about that for a while.

Been there done that.

Iraq has taken almost 7 years to cost that much. This congress we have spent that much in a few months.

Lets talk about that eh.

I love it 787 billion didn't do the trick. Another 250 Billion since then didn't do the trick.

But another 50 Billion now will fix us. LOL

Right..lol. I don't get it when the ppl say, "he just doesn't get it," either. The problem is he DOES get it and is ramrodding his way to continue the progressive agenda towards socialism that started with Woodrow Wilson, the creep.
