30 year anniversary of Mt. St. Helens... with pictures!

When I took off my parents roof a few years ago, we found a whole bunch of ash underneath the shingles. lol

We didn't get much ash down here. Only when it rained.

It was so weird to see white precipitation in august.

Because it stuck around?
I wasn't born until October, so I have no idea what it was like. I do know I went to school with a lot of Ashley's, and we played Hot Lava a lot.

It is essentially ground glass. Fortunetly it was kind of heavy, so it didn't blow around.

It made a huge mess for the city even with the small quantities we got, as it was heavy and plugged up storm drains and the like.

It was murder on aphids. That was the year of really great roses. It was great for the soil too. I went around the area scooping it up and dumping it on the compost. Had great flowers from that soil for a long time

I haven't had a piece of ash in quite some time.

I wonder whatever happened to the old guy that refused to leave his mountain home. Was he on the side that went away?

My uncle was suppose to go fishing up by St Helens that day, but decided not to. I bet he was happy about that the rest of his life. lol
