Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar says that 30 countries are refusing to take deported criminal illegal aliens back and he wants the US government to force their cooperation.

A law is already on the books, Cuellar noted in an interview with Sheryl Attkisson, that the US could stop issuing visas to citzens of those countries until they changed their policy.

Daily Caller:

“We’re not enforcing it, which is amazing. So now my intent is to go back to our committee on appropriations and affect their funding until they do that,”...

...There are many foreign countries that refuse to retake illegal immigrants convicted of crimes, according to the congressman, including Vietnam, Cuba and China. Cuellar said that diplomacy plays a factor in the government’s refusal to enforce the law, as the Department of State and other federal agencies do not want to upset foreign partners...
...One can certainly understand that most countries would be very reluctant to allow a convicted felon back into their country. We saw the same thing with inmates from Guantanamo Bay prison camp. What nation in their right mind would welcome a terrorist back home? Even Muslim countries were reluctant to take Gitmo prisoners. But after a deportation order is issued for a criminal illegal alien, it is no longer America's problem.

A visa slowdown would be inconvenient for China and most other countries doing business with the US. The Trump administration might be open to such a course of action if these countries continue to refuse lawful American deportation orders that would send criminals back to where they came from.

Yeah, it could probably be super costly to hold up visas w/ places like China w/ soo much business travel, but there comes a time when laws have to be obeyed even when it's costly to do so.

Yup, cut them off.
Let their business travelers bitch to their governments to fix the policy.

Yeah, beats the heck out of having those foreign criminals running free in the U.S.

Still another idea that I'm warm to is what they said about a "visa slowdown". A problem w/ that though is that the federal employees doing the visas would have to figure out a way of taking forever in a way that they're not already taking forever w/ doing everything else.

--and we can't ask them when they'd have this figured out because they take forever answering those kinds of questions....

My proposed recommendation:

1) downgrade diplomatic relations with any such country/countries
2) terminate all aid to that country/countries
3) cease issuing all and any visas for that country/countries
4) if they still refuse place the illegals on boats just outside their maritime borders and leave them
5) if elements of the US state department are unwilling to take this issue up with their assigned country, I'd release the convicted illegals under the sole understanding that they can avoid being executed if they rape/rob/murder the families of the diplomats refusing to do their job. Since these diplomats do not respect the families of other american citizens/people, then their families will also be required to face the same consequences.
