Mary was married, had 2 children, got a divorce, meet a new man. Mary and her new man John started dating and Mary had a child for John. They are not married. John got in trouble while Mary was pregnant (5 months) and he was removed for 3.5. When John returned the child was 3 years old and Mary had managed to carry on. John is now home and unemployed, he doesn't have anything. Mary is doing all she can for herself, the 3 kids and John. John has decide that he needs to get back on his feet, so he wants to go a vocational school to get his AutoCAD licenses. The school that he choose has a course that costs $3,500.00 and will guarantee employment upon graduation. John has asked Mary to "give" him the $3,500.00 for the school. John states this will be his way of getting a job and providing for Mary and the 3 kids.

Is John asking for too much? Should Mary "give" him the money - $3,500?

How much is this bum asking for again? Which is it, 3,500 or 35,000?

3,500, sure, with a promise that John will pay Mary back.

35,000? Fuck no.

for me,

John should try other less expensive thing to support marry and his kids, for example, get into internet marketing, learn some internet skills to get money online...

in term of marry, she should support whatever john decision for the sake of their family...

Mary is hanging out with a loser. She should be very leary of giving him any amount of money. Why doesn't he "man" up and go to work and maybe do the night school thing? He sounds like a freeloader to me.

Mary shouldn't hand John any amount of money. If she wants to loan it to him, she should get a repayment agreement IN WRITING and then she should go down the financial aid office herself and pay the school, not John. He may really want to get his life back on track, and that is commendable, but Mary has to protect herself and her children at the same time and that should come first.
