Montreal College to Reopen Tuesday After Mass Shooting

Montreal, Canada (AHN) - Dawson College, the Montreal two year educational institution which was the scene of a Columbine like mass shooting on Wednesday is scheduled to be opened for classes on Tuesday according to school officials.
The 10,000 student junior college located in a former convent in downtown Montreal will offer counseling for any students and faculty members who request it.
A small army of cleaning and construction people entered the school as soon as police finished their investigation and started cleaning up the spilled blood and other debris from the rampage. Construction workers also worked diligently patching up the bullet scarred walls.
During the attack one 18 year old student died and 19 others were wounded, one is still in a coma and very critical.
The shooter, 25 year old Kimveer Gill, of nearby Laval, was killed in the hail of bullets from police responding to the scene. Reports however vary as to whether he was killed by police returning fire or by self inflicted wounds.
Gill is reported to have had mental problems and was dismissed after only four weeks of training with the Canadian Forces in 1999.
Reportedly he was obsessed with the Columbine High School mass shooting in Colorado and his website shows him wearing the long black trench coat and posing with several guns, much like the Columbine shooters.
Also like Kliebold and Harris, the Columbine pair, he said on his website he had been "bullied in school," something the Columbine killers also claimed.
Gill came from a middle class family who say they had no idea about his plans tfor the shooting.
Political repercussions from the massacre are also causing controversy.
Prime Minister Steven Harper has said before the event that he planned to end Canada's long gun registry as being to costly and not effective. All of Quebec's political parties have come out against ending the program.
