I have long been a zero population growth supporter. Just because of the dynamics, we cant just breed ourselves into extinction but we can sure make life hardly worth the living.
The numbers of population stats dont tell the whole picture.....it is the CONSUMPTION rate of the population that really defines the problem. We in the US have the rest of the world beat by a landslide on this one.
Realistically if the standard of living were equalized thruout the world we would not have indoor plumbing and would eat a slim one meal a day.

China has tried to deal with the problem...one child per family, but traditional values have put baby girls at great risk.
