Are you claiming that since climate has changed naturally, it's impossible for humans to change climate, and therefore humans shouldn't even try to avoid doing so?

I hope not, as that would be totally senseless. It would be exactly as senseless as saying that since forest fires used to always occur naturally, it's impossible for humans to cause forest fires, and therefore there's no point in practicing fire safety.

And that's a big logic failure post. The fact that climate has changed naturally in the past in no way means that humans can't change climate.

Yes, man does have SOME effect on climate changes. I don't think anyone can dispute the fact of man-made pollution, constant draining of the earths resources by fracking, drilling, destruction of rain forests & old growth timber & whatever other abuses man has done to the planet, hasn't made an impact. On this I think we do agree. I am pointing out the broader spectrum of natural changes and cycles that scientists and researchers have shown the majority of these effects would happen anyway. Man may have just stepped on the gas pedal by a degree or two, I don't know. But I really don't think, given scientific data proving the earth's constant natural changes over a wide range of it's history, that man has made as much of an effect than the earth itself.

Unless of course you are of the thinking of conspiracy theories of some top secret base in Alaska wilderness behind armed guards, that guys in white coats are flipping switches intended for extreme weather changes throughout the world........then that is entirely another story.

They don't point out that when they made adjustments to change the trend, that the absolute temperature calculation also changes. No one is arguing or even paying attention to the actual global temp. Just the trend.

The heat goes on. January 2016 data from NASA GISS has the global average anomaly at +1.13C. That's hottest monthly anomaly ever, beating the +1.11C of December 2015.

HadCRUT and NOAA are still to report. They'll probably be a little cooler, as the GISS algorithm weights the arctic a bit more, and arctic temperatures were especially warm. Also notable is the persistent north Atlantic cool spot, and the obvious El Nino warming in the equatorial Pacific.

The satellite data showing very little warming during the strongest nino in history blows their creditably out of the water.

UAH is a fraud.

BZZZZZT. Wrong. Try again.. Both RSS and UAH recorded HIGHER than Hadley and GISS for the 1998 El Nino.

If anything, the satellites are looking at air temps averaged over a bigger height slice in the Troposphere. So over water, they are gonna probably gonna be immune from actual WATER TEMPS and more representative of the atmos heating.

Really? So we don't need that fleet of 12 satellites measuring global temperature? That would be a BIG savings to the budget. Those satellites have largely agreed with the surface data since 1979, and the DIFFERENCE is suddenly accelerating since the rate of warming fell to near zero for the last decade or so..

But you don't need to know any of this or care about discussing it -- because you're just a Agit8R. Or some kind of T8R..

Check the graph at post 34.. SOMEBODY is getting sloppy with the Global Temperature values -- because SUDDENLY -- they are no where NEAR that happy agreement.

As RSS and UAH both use the instruments on weather satellites, you seem to be saying that weather satellites are a waste of money. Very peculiar.
