2012

Jeff --

Today, we are filing papers to launch our 2012 campaign.

We're doing this now because the politics we believe in does not start with expensive TV ads or extravaganzas, but with you -- with people organizing block-by-block, talking to neighbors, co-workers, and friends. And that kind of campaign takes time to build.

So even though I'm focused on the job you elected me to do, and the race may not reach full speed for a year or more, the work of laying the foundation for our campaign must start today.

We've always known that lasting change wouldn't come quickly or easily. It never does. But as my administration and folks across the country fight to protect the progress we've made -- and make more -- we also need to begin mobilizing for 2012, long before the time comes for me to begin campaigning in earnest.

As we take this step, I'd like to share a video that features some folks like you who are helping to lead the way on this journey. Please take a moment to watch:

In the coming days, supporters like you will begin forging a new organization that we'll build together in cities and towns across the country. And I'll need you to help shape our plan as we create a campaign that's farther reaching, more focused, and more innovative than anything we've built before.

We'll start by doing something unprecedented: coordinating millions of one-on-one conversations between supporters across every single state, reconnecting old friends, inspiring new ones to join the cause, and readying ourselves for next year's fight.

This will be my final campaign, at least as a candidate. But the cause of making a lasting difference for our families, our communities, and our country has never been about one person. And it will succeed only if we work together.

There will be much more to come as the race unfolds. Today, simply let us know you're in to help us begin, and then spread the word:

Biden is a family guy and always has been.

I bet he wants to retire and then Obama can pick someone as VP who can run in the next election and wont be too old.

Maybe Biden wants to retire?

Only if Obama wants him to want to retire. I doubt that though. Self sacrifice isn't something liberals are good at.

Huh? That makes no sense, other than your extremist and very dumb remark. Joe Biden has always wanted to be president, not vice-president. And oh by the way, wasn't it "self-sacrifice" that caused Sarah Palin to resign? She didn't want to bring despair over her own personal matters to the citizens of Alaska, or some such bullshit.

I never thought he would go for a second term as VP and he's been strangely missing from all the action lately. A year ago, even six months ago, we'd be apt to see him on the Sunday talk shows or at least making some newsworthy stop somewhere. Biden did meet with some members of Congress on the budget cuts last week, but he sure wasn't the focus, nor did he offer any information on the results.

Hillary has already said she doesn't want a second term as Secretary of State nor does she want to run for president again, so switching roles makes a lot of sense, since Biden also has 30 years of foreign affairs experience and could do that job in a heartbeat.

I'm also predicting that Jim Webb will be appointed Secretary of Defense when Gates quits. It's the reason Webb decided not to run again for the Senate.

We shall see... But it's a given that the Democrats are going to be more fun to watch than the boring and/or amusing Republicans as they flounder around.

It's not as though he has small children, and he's only 68. That's not "old" by today's measurement and I doubt he wants to retire and do the usual--write a book. I can't think who I would want to replace him as vice. Of course Obama could shatter all historic precedent and choose a Republican!

Maybe Biden wants to retire?

Or run again himself. He's not the sort to retire right in the middle of a hundred difference messes.

Yes. That is sooooo Truman-esque of Biden......:lol::lol:.

Yes, it is. After all, it was Biden who did not want to expand in Afghanistan, primarily because we were propping up a corrupt leader. Biden would have told Karzai that right to his face instead of playing nicey.

that "right America feels Wronged" video is fucking AWESOME.

So you're lobbying for the job?

The people who are cavailing about Obama spending money on a campaign

It's actually not caviling because it's not about the spending. It's about the hypocrisy of the finger pointing community organizer who bewails the haves spending endless money to get what they want. Typical liberal suddenly it's unnecessary when your guy does it.

So how can anyone win an election in our current system without spending money?
