The IDF says the quantity and rate of fire from Gaza is unprecedented; notes terrorists are actively using civilians as human shields.

IDF officials say the 200 rockets fired at Israel's southern communities since Friday marks a “dramatic development in terms of the quantity and rate of the fire.”

“In the first three days of the current round of fighting we’ve sustained a larger quantity of rockets than the quantity fired at Israel in the two previous rounds, in August and October, which were longer,” an army official said.

More than 50 of the rockets fired in recent days were medium-range missiles, and most attacks were carried out by the Islamic Jihad, the army said. they are using civilians as “human shields.”

Though the pace of attacks has lessened slightly since the weekend, there have been more than 250 rockets fired into southern Israel this week. The Israeli “Iron Dome” missile defense system has functioned well, destroying many of the larger rockets before they could reach their targets, and limiting the damage done by the attacks. Yet despite that defensive success, there has still been a number of Jewish civilians injured and a great deal of property damage.

More than a million Israelis spent part of the last few days in bomb shelters, and children missed several days of school during the worst of the attacks. Though it has received very little attention in the media, this round of attacks is really just a trial run for the terrorists sponsored by Iran to test their ability to strike at Israel if and when war breaks out. We must stand with Israel right now in this moment of great danger.

Palestinian boy, 15, admitted to Kaplan Hospital in serious condition. Israel believes injuries caused by rocket launching pad; boy's father claims he was hurt in IAF drone strike

A 15-year-old Palestinian boy was rushed to the Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot on Wednesday, after suffering serious injuries, allegedly from a rocket launching pad set up in the northern Gaza neighborhood of Jabalya.

The boy was admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with severe burns and shrapnel injuries to his pelvis, abdomen, chest and extremities. He was also diagnosed as suffering from a lung injury and a lacerated liver.
