Because young children often aren't responsible for their own diets, that oversight usually falls to a parent. And alas, most of us are not adept at estimating how much sugar is in some common foodstuffs. In a recent study in Germany, about three-quarters of the parents underestimated the total amount of sugar in some foods — in some cases radically. The researchers supect that a "health halo" hovers over things like fruit juice and yogurt, leading parents to misjudge the sugar in them.

Be careful! If your information is interpreted as implying that one is responsible for one's actions, such as becoming overweight, you could be in deep trouble. It isn't considered acceptable to throw self-infliction in people's faces lately.
