Proclamations February 3 1983

Even eight decades after Progressisivism planted its vile seed in our federal government, Christianity still commanded, in large measure, our national character. As the Congressional Proclamation states, the Bible has helped shape "the United States of America into a distinctive Nation and people," and is "the rock on which our Republic rests."

Now in this "City on a Hill," Christians are merely counted among a diverse population.

'Cuz liberals just love America and its history.

But now we live in a post-Christian world. A simple Google search can bear that view out. Google

Even the history we recall from currrent events escapes the liberal mind.

"America's history, you see, begins with the Progressive Era." Derp.

Until now, America had always been a Christian nation.

The word from your first post is progressivism...you added a touch of ISIS. Freudian slip, perhaps?
While Christianity was a mainstream way of life for that time... there is a clue... the framers of the Constitution knew that too much Christianity could destroy a country and enslave the people. You like to Google... so Google. Let me get you started.

Sample Chapter for Lambert F. The Founding Fathers and the Place of Religion in America.
Christianity is still a choice...another clue... for a person's way of life, but it is no longer mainstream as in the fashion of the 18th century. People work more, play more, engage more... the people of the 18th century had nothing but Church and an occasional social (ball). Church was their life because they had nothing else to do or think about. It was the way of the time. If you want to live in a country whose government is based on religion and religion is all you do, then you need to move to a Middle Eastern country.
"the rock on which our Republic rests" was a statement by Andrew Jackson, who helped his wife secure a divorce from her first husband. Rachel Jackson biography - wife of Andrew Jackson Britannica.com
I am not down playing Christianity, but this country is not a Church, nor was it intended to be, nor will it ever be. If you want to live in a Church, become a nun or monk.
Progessivism is not a bad thing. It is an ideology that describes the way of life...events as a result of the second industrial revolution. It is an ideology and ideologies change with the times and the ruler. It depicts a time in history. It had nothing to do with your ideas of the US falling from Christian grace. People went from worshiping many Gods to just one God and I'm sure the people blamed it on something like progressivism too.
The Progressive Era 1890 - 1920

Actually, the word from my post post is Progressisivism. I just double-checked it.

And I Google very little of the information I post.

The modern assault on Christianity by the federal government started long before 1983. The defining version of "separation of Church/State" came about in 1947 in "Everson v Board of Ed". Former KKK member appointed to the supreme court by FDR, Justice Hugo Black, wrote the majority opinion that turned the 1st Amendment on it's ear. Instead of organized religion being protected from government oppression Justice Black decided that government should determine the extent of organized religion. Apparently Justice Black, as a member of the KKK, hated and feared the wave of mostly Papist (Catholic) private schools cropping up throughout the U.S. after WW2 and he placed severe restrictions on the expression of religious freedom on public property. The decision didn't impact society much at the time until a series of campaigns by democrat administrations resulted in outrages like the hammering of the (50 year old) Ten Commandments off a court house wall and the left wing court decision to force San Diego to bulldoze a monument to Korean War Veterans because it had a 40 ft Cross that offended a single agnostic.
