You could tell who got the bad numbers in my high school.
First third with the worst numbers were almost certain to be drafted.
Middle third uncertain.
Last third nothing to worry about.
The draft had switched from universal to a lottery in 1970.
Turns out nobody with even the worst numbers in the lottery got drafted.
But they didnt know that back then.
Lots of grim faces in the halls - even had a info center where you could see your draft number.
The draft was disbanded - to my dismay.
